Read a book that was published between 1946-64 or written by a boomer author.
We've got like a million options for this month, you guys, so it's a good opportunity for you to look at your existing to-read pile/list and see if there are any books/authors who fit this challenge (we bet there are).
Here is the ONTD post: https://ohnotheydidnt.livejournal.com...

It's Me, Margaret or [book:Harry Pott..."harry potter definitely counts. I think the argument for the Judy Blume book is a little weak though.

I'm going to go with
Brick Lane, I had it on my TBR for a while but I was definitely moved to finally pick it up after reading about the controversy it generated! lol

i read The Road a couple years ago and it was excellent. So if you are c..."we'll have it up a couple of days before March :)

I'm going to give
The Road a try.

Read a book about a cat or where a cat is an important or memorable character.

Did you enjoy your May pick? Would you recommend it to your fellow readers? Was it difficult or easy to complete this task?

Did you enjoy your April pick? Would you recommend it to your fellow readers? Was it difficult or easy to complete this task?

Read a book that caused scandal or major controversy when it was first released. We're talking widespread bans, major social outrage, governmental or religious condemnation, the author being prosecuted, arrested or exiled for its writing, etc.
The scandal can also be related to the author or the publication of the book itself, for example, the book being a hoax or the author being a scammer or other kind of criminal (e.g. James Frey's "A Million Little Pieces").

I finished A Suitable Boy!!!!!!!! I fucking did it!!!!!!!! It was great, I can't wait for the TV series. I think it will be fantastic because I have faith in Mira Nair and the excellent cast she picked (Tabu!!!!! queen!!!)

Dainey, so I watched the Dracula adaptation as I was very curious and it is SO. EMBARRASSING. I don’t know what it is about the source material that makes people come up with such bizarre adaptations. The main actor did his best though, poor guy.

Okay. I am diving in. I started A Suitable Boy. It is long AF but reading it on a kindle helps to not fixate so much on the amount of pages.

Maggie wrote: "Started, and finished, The Witches!"we stan an achiever!

I think I'll go for
The Turn of the Screw as it's short and I've been meaning to read it for a while.
Then if I'm feeling motivated, I'll try
A Suitable Boy.

Read a book with a memorable or prominent dad character or where fatherhood is a major theme.

Jay-Z’s cousin may be in Nigeria discovering new musical talent, but you don’t have to move to discover the country’s vibrant literary talents. This month, let’s read a book by a Nigerian author or set in Nigeria.

Also just FYI: we're bringing back the wrap-up topics this year, in which you can discuss your picks after you've read them (we'll use this initial topic mostly to discuss what we're going to pick). Only this time the wrap-up will be posted in advance, so nobody has to wait until the end of the month and we won't forget to post it.
And please remember that if you want to open up a new topic to discuss a particular book (for example, let's say a group of you decides to read Dune for January), that is absolutely fine!!
