I'm stoked because IndieReader posted my review from the Discovery Awards and while I knew it would be positive, since I won, I am blown away by WHAT the reviewer praise..."Congratulations! No greater honor than that from a peer!

I used a short excerpt from Talking Heads, "The Democratic Circus," lyrics by David Byrne, in a sonnet I published on my Website as well as in a large (one-quarter-page) newspaper ad I once took out on Memorial Day some years ago, and found I needed to get David's permission.

It's a story tied to World War I

Alyssa already has submitted one for next week. (;>)

No joy in Mudville this week, but I do thank you for your support!

If you have it on returnable, you pay postage, which is normally more than your original royalty."And postage can be a killer, even at book rate in the US...almost as much as the author's cost of a book, in some cases.

Sometimes you gotta hear it from the horse's mouth LOL

Yes, it WAS interesting...and from a YA, at that.
Erica wrote: "Slang in books is just not cool. I just want to be all like, dude...chillax. That's just not phat."I agree. I stayed away from it completely in my book,
The Hypnotist (written under the pen name, Alyssa Devine). By the way, my book is one of two used in the Core Genre (Mystery) Reading Program at the local high school in our area (the other novel in the program is
Witness for the Prosecution); both are read by all 800 (approximate) freshmen in every class.

I was looking around the Writing Forum on Readers' Favorite a few minutes ago and found that someone had posted this URL on blurbs. Thought the gang might want to review it:

Mary Ellen wrote: "Voted...looks like you've got this one!"Thanks! Actually not...a competitor from India obviously has rounded up his buddies and is really doing a job on me! He has an interesting story, but it's a shame he didn't do a better job of editing his work. It will be interesting to see how the editors view his submission.

I need all the votes I can muster this time around, guys and gals...someone is really challenging me on this round. Would appreciate any votes you can throw my way:

By the way, as I mentioned, one of the major problems the North American power grid experiences even today are huge current surges during high geomagnetic activity. This activity peaks about two years after the peak in the sunspot cycle. The current cycle peaked in the spring of 2014, so we have passed the peak in geomagnetic activity, but geomagnetic storms still can do significant damage to the grid as well as to to Earth satellites (both to their internal systems as well as causing operators to expend fuel keeping their satellites on-station as blasts of solar particles push them out of their orbital positions).
