201765 Stifling the shudders today. I have posted on three different groups, trying to promote and network. I don't do these things easily. OK technically it's two groups. I deleted a post I put on one group because I suddenly got intimidated by the whole thing.

I found a group that seemed to fit the genre I write in, but it's not very active. At least I did something.

201765 I can't do this interacting with people thing. I've done two messages and now I'm having anxiety issues just because.

201765 Thanks, I may get back to you on that. I'm looking into various groups, I find some of them quite intimidating, but that's just me. And others that haven't been active for yonks...

201765 OK anyone who knows me, knows I'm rubbish at finding things. How do you find beta readers who will read erotica?

I can't pay hundreds, but I could pay a few quid. (Bearing in mind I won't be expecting to make any money back on what I spend on services or promotion-purely from a realistic point of view and experience to date)

As well as the complication that I write erotica, it is a major thing for me to ask someone.

Where do I look?

201765 However thanks for that research. I'm definitely not in a position to lose money at that level at the moment.

201765 50 sales in a day though Alex. I haven't had that in an entire year.

201765 Not really a good thing that happened, rather a thing I made happen. Finished writing my second book.

I stuffed a request for beta readers somewhere in the help section if anyone is interested.

201765 Is this the correct place for one of these requests?

I've "finished" writing the 2nd book in my vaguely funny, sexy sci-fi series. This one is called Nate and Day, (Lunar Medical Book 2.)
Genre-Erotica, Space Opera

Having survived a virus outbreak and a mutant attack on the moon, the crew have been sent out to re-establish communications between the planet and the moon base and to search for survivors. Their genetic modifications are still giving them various "emotional" issues, resulting in the random uncovering of certain body parts... They must arrive safely, escape strange indigenous flora, battle new enemy technology, find uninfected survivors and leave the planet, preferably before it blows up. All this, whilst trying to keep their clothes on.

I write some weird stuff!

Has anyone got the time or interest to read it through for me and see if I've dug any plot holes or misnamed characters?

It is a mere 40k words long which is half the length of the first book.

I have run it through both Grammarly and PWA, taken on board some of their suggestions and raised my middle finger at others.

Warning for violence, swearing and sex.

201765 That is true. No-one can tell what I read on my phone. Paperbacks are their own advert if they're read outside of someone's house.

201765 At least it's something. I'm still happy with a single sale a month.

201765 Gay erotica is the next one I'm working on after the current book. So many things almost finished.
May 10, 2017 01:26PM

201765 That was why I liked the line. It's randomly relevant.

201765 I know. I'm pleased there's another tree out there with my name on.

AND double whammy, not only did I remember that I wrote a passage on my phone for book two, I found it online. It disappeared from my phone as far as I can tell, but I found it on a forum I'd uploaded to year ago.

It'll be the prologue which means my second book will no longer start with the words,

"Is anyone else itchy?"

Oh well.

201765 Someone other than me bought a copy of my paperback. OK it's an old school friend of mine but even so, she bought one. So glad I republished when I found a word I got wrong. I republished a book for the sake of two letters!

201765 Hi Nini, welcome.
201765 That's very interesting info. Thanks. I've only ever quoted half a dozen words from a review for social media quotes. I assumed there was a fair use thingy.
201765 Good question. I've often wondered that. Awaiting answer...

201765 Hi Skye, welcome.

I also need beta readers. Whether I ask for some depends on my mood.
