201765 In Minnesota, we have 60 cases at last report, but testing is now limited to health care workers and hospitalized patients as the testing supplies are in short supply. I worry that the number of reported cases here, as well as around the country and the world, are far below the real numbers. Like most places, our schools are all closed as are restaurants, bars, movie theaters, most shopping, etc.

As far as work goes, it's different for everyone in my family. As a substitute teacher, I'm obviously not working at all. My husband's company has split everyone into two groups and they work alternating days in the office and from home. My son is 100% from home and my daughter as well, though she works for a very large corporation and they're struggling with having the capacity to have everyone log in remotely.

Hardest for me, personally, is my son's wedding scheduled for May 16. There's so much unknown as to how long everything will stay on lockdown and restricted gathering numbers that he and his fiancé are in a state of flux. I FaceTimed yesterday with my future daughter-in-law. Seeing her face, struggling to smile and say it will all work out when her eyes tell a much different story, was heartbreaking. They've been planning for nearly a year-and-a-half, both families are large so the guest list is over 250, and everything is paid for and in place. And now all we can do is wait and see.

With so much sadness, stories like that from Magnus where people are applauding the efforts of hospital workers or the video I've seen of people singing out their windows in Italy are such a welcome ray of hope.

Be well, stay safe, and know I'm praying.

201765 Sunset Over Misty Lake (Misty Lake, #5) by Margaret Standafer

Available today on Amazon!

Sunset Over Misty Lake is the fifth and final book in the Misty Lake series of clean romance/romantic suspense novels set in Northern Minnesota.

*************************
See the McCabes like you've never seen them before!

Karen has the life she's always wanted...a loving husband, a growing family, and a career that both suits and challenges. Then, with a few words, a text sends that life crashing down around her.

At first confused, then frustrated, and finally devastated, Joe doesn't know what to do or where to look in order to help his wife and save his family. Turns out, he doesn't have to look far.

You've seen the McCabes rally around one another, supporting and protecting, but you've never seen them like this. When the one who's always been there for them is threatened, nothing will keep the McCabes from showing her what family means, what family does.

But will it be enough?

All books in the series are free to read with Kindle Unlimited or grab your copy here: https://amzn.to/2I9qdcO

Thank you!

201765 I just looked at a few titles by Bess McBride and got the expected list of sponsored ads so you may be right in thinking it's related to you being a UK visitor to the .com. Having just returned from a couple of weeks in Ireland, I can tell you that most everything I searched (on Amazon as well as on other websites) looked different than it did when I do my searches from the US.

201765 A month seems like enough time to know whether you're into the story and its rewriting. If I were you, I'd move on to another project. Your Inspector Stone series is fantastic and I'm sure there are many readers eagerly awaiting the next installment. As far as the drug lord story, if it's proving that difficult, I'd start over with the same central idea, like you mentioned. You may find that you're able to use parts, but starting fresh might be the impetus you need to really tell the story.

201765 I teach middle schoolers and high schoolers and it's true that far too many of them treat a writing assignment as if they're texting. It's shocking, really, what I see turned in as a final copy.

Carole,
Have you seen a print copy using KDP? Is there a difference in look, quality, etc.? I have my paperbacks with Createspace and am writing the last in my series. I'm worried that it will look different than the previous books.

201765 It's raining in Minnesota which puts a bit of a damper on our pool party, but we'll celebrate, nonetheless. Happy Independence Day!

201765 My husband and I are traveling to Europe with our daughter to watch her swim in an event in Munich. From there, we're heading to Krakow, Budapest, Bratislava, and Vienna. I'm super, super excited and am thinking I need to find some books set in these places. Any suggestions?

201765 Congratulations! I love it when good things happen to good people!

A bit of my own news...
My most recent book, Anchored in Misty Lake, Anchored in Misty Lake (Misty Lake, #4) by Margaret Standafer has been nominated for a Swoony Award, recognizing reader favorites in clean, secular romance. Exciting for me, as there are some truly talented and prolific authors nominated and just being included is a big deal for little ol' me. If you'd care to cast a vote, here's the page https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/1....
My book was just nominated so it's faaaar down the list.
My weekend is off to a fine start :) I hope you enjoy yours!

Today, and every day, I appreciate Jimmy and all those like him who are willing to lay their lives on the line to protect our country and our freedom. Each and every one is a hero. Thank you for sharing Jimmy's story.
