Hi, Ronnie! I see you've written a book for autistic children, What she says and What I see. My son is autistic nonverbal and in elementary school. Congrats on writing for a magazine!

Thank you for sharing those moments with your son with me, Ronnie. My son did the same thing with the biting and I had a hard time getting him to stop that behavior. I'm going to be writing his biography soon. He knows sign language fluently but really wants to talk. It took me years to get his cognitive skills where he could understand a word I say.

A few years ago, between the ages of 2-5 he'd bang his head daily on walls, furniture anything that had a hard surface, hit himself in the face, scratch himself out of aggression and frustration. He understands directions now and follows them very well.

He's more cognitively aware. But there are small moments his cognitive skills will lapse which can be frustrating for him and for me as his mom trying to help him to understand. He still gets those frustration levels.

He has a weakness in his wrists which I've been working with him using occupationally therapy. He has trouble holding a pencil in his hand because of it and he can't write with out his wrist being leveled, because his wrist gets tired.

He suffered from two holes in his heart (story for another time) He had been in speech therapy and occupational therapy for the first five years off and on but due to his behavior he had been constantly kicked out of therapy.

Every speech or occupational therapist I found for a while he'd do fine. Of course, he'd have to adjust each time and then the last speech and occupational therapist kicked him out because they couldn't take him spitting at them. I am first and foremost my son's advocate and I always will be. Sent you an email, Ronnie.

Hi, Kay! I just sent in my entry! Thank you for this opportunity! What about a kindle promo? I thought about doing one for the book I mentioned in my entry. I'll be able to do one around that time in December. Will that be good? I can send the link to you when it starts nearer to the Christmas event date so it can be added onto my entry.

Looks like we have something in common. I don't like coffee either Alexis and Erica. But like Erica I do love the smell of coffee. Tea or hot chocolate would be great for me.

201765 I'm sure I've said this on another thread in this group. Best wishes to your family and my condolences for the loss of your son. It seems we have something in common my ten year old son is autistic.
