201765 Another suggestion. Join the Independent Book Publishing Association. Membership is $125 dollars, but they provide an impressive list of benefits, which includes free title set up fees and revisions on Ingram. If for some reason, you need to update a cover or the interior content, IS also charges $25 for each.

201765 For anyone who is trying to move their books and is unable to do so, this is why. Excerpt from KDP guidelines.

"In a few weeks, we'll start automatically moving CreateSpace books to KDP and expect to have moved all books in the weeks that follow. If you have a release planned soon or would like to start the move yourself, you'll be able to move your entire catalog in just a few steps. To ensure a quality experience, we'll enable the ability to move your CreateSpace books to KDP in phases, so authors may see it at different times. Log in to your CreateSpace Member Dashboard and follow the instructions to begin once the link to do so appears in your account."

201765 More excerpts

"What happens if I have a book in the statuses "awaiting proof" or "proof review" on CreateSpace and it's moved to KDP?
Books that aren't live on CreateSpace will move to KDP and appear there in "draft" status. The statuses "awaiting proof" and "proof review" status don't exist on KDP. This won't stop you from editing or updating your book while proofs are being shipped. If you ordered a proof while on CreateSpace, you'll receive your copy as scheduled. Changes, if needed, will need to be made on KDP after the move is complete."

"What happens to my books if I don't do anything and CreateSpace is no longer available?
If your CreateSpace book was available for sale and you don't take any action, it will remain available for sale. You'll continue to earn royalties, and we'll pay you based on the payment and tax information you provided to CreateSpace. We'll also calculate your sales rank as normal at all points during and after the transition. If you were editing or working on a CreateSpace book and it wasn't available for sale, it will transition to KDP in "draft" status. After the CreateSpace website is no longer available, you'll be prompted to claim an account on KDP so you can access your books there."

201765 Here is another excerpt from the KDP help document.

"Moving your books from CreateSpace to KDP
When do I need to move my books from CreateSpace to KDP?
In a few weeks, we'll start automatically moving CreateSpace books to KDP and expect to have moved all books in the weeks that follow. If you would like to start the move yourself before that date, you can move your entire CreateSpace catalog to KDP in a few steps. Get started on your CreateSpace Member Dashboard or KDP Bookshelf."

201765 There is a how to file on KDP. Link is below. Here is one item I spotted.
"If you used Cover Creator on CreateSpace, the design won't be compatible with Cover Creator on KDP. We'll move your CreateSpace files and print your book use the existing cover. However, if you want to update your cover after the move to KDP, you'll need to design a new one with KDP's Cover Creator. You can also use our templates."

I checked the books I have on KDP. With the kindle version, the first five chapters can be read in the Look Inside Feature. The print version has less than a chapter that is available.

I was told by a representative at Createspace that authors will have an option to move the books themselves. If they don't, then Createspace will do the transfer. The issue is that KDP has a stricter error policy than Createspace which could result in the book being rejected. I had that problem when I transferred my first novel. I had included an excerpt from the second book at the end and started the page numbers over. While this was acceptable to Createspace and IngramSpark it wasn't with KDP. I had to resubmit the manual and change the page numbers.

201765 All of my books have been moved to KDP, and I ordered copies of all three. In comparing to what I have on hand from Createspace, there is no difference in the quality.

201765 I am turning my column, On the Hunt, into a series of podcasts that will air on Speak Up Talk Radio. I am working on adding Soundcloud and iTunes.

The first episode airs on August 4. As part of the launch, I am giving away two free book shout-outs. If anyone is interested in entering their book, you can enter on Twitter, on my website, or send me an email with your book title.
