Good news from one fellow author. She lives in St. Petersburg. She is home, has no damage and has electricity. She said, "St. Pete is very, very lucky."

That is the best compliment a reader can give an author. They liked the book so much that they get another one to read.

Getting old is not a lot of fun. Every morning I wake up and wonder, Okay! What's not going to work today. Adding in medication compounds the problems. Fix one problem and now you have two or three others because of the side effects.

Alex--Hopefully they will be able to make the adjustments she needs.

Fellow author Elizabeth M Vansyckle lives in St. Petersburg, Florida which is now in the direct path of the hurricane. I received this text message from her.
"Energies primal and ageless approach with mighty power. No fury needed for it is of earth and moon. Pure in the simplest form of surf and waves beyond our comprehension. I feel this energy in my bones where it pulses and vibrates with its song."

I did a laminate hard cover for one of my books, and a dust jacket for the other. I had two reasons, of which only one is applicable here. I wanted them for promotions. I think the hardback is more impressive than a paperback.

I just saw the post on my facebook page. Ben, what a great format and design for the interview. Thank you for presenting me in such a positive light. It was fun.

Over the years, I have used Go Daddy, Ipage, Host Gator and Wix. Of the four, I have found Wix's program is the most user-friendly. I love it.

My bit of excitement is that both trailers for my books are done and uploaded. What a couple of fun projects these turned into. It has added motivation to get my next book finished, so I can do another trailer. If anyone is interested, here are the links. I would be interested in opinions.

Alex wrote: "Hey all, I've just updated the front page for my website, I'd be ever so grateful if you could take a look and tell me if anything needs tweaking or changing, I'd especially like to know if there's..."Wow, it looks great. I don't think I would change anything. I also like the organization of the different components. Everything is easy on the eye.

I like how you think. Brilliant!

Oh, no, and will take my foot out of my mouth, LOL! Somehow, I had the impression you were female. My humble apologies, and will correct to:
Boy! you did it, and that doesn't in anyway diminish your accomplishment. It is still an inspiration.

It doesn't matter if it was only a brief moment. Girl, you did it! and how great is that.

Wow, kudos to Alex on reaching the top 100. I would say being on each side of Rowling is quite an achievement. Congrats to all the winners in the award contest. Each and everyone of you are an inspiration to the rest of us.

Did you use them in any promotions?

Interesting, thanks for the link. I am going to try book trailers and see where that leads. One is complete and will be on line today, and the second will be ready in about a week. Even if they don't pan out, they have been fun projects.

Thank you to all. What a fun experience.

Wow, that is a beautiful font and am going to add it to my collection. Thanks for the post.
I am always on the search for new ones for both the interior of a book, but also the cover. When I design a cover, the font is as important as the image. It needs to speak to the title and the genre. That probably won't make sense to anyone but it is how I view the design.
I have researched quite a number of font sites and these are my two favorites. Many are free for commercial use.

Good tip. Thank you.

I'll add another issue. Updates! I was designing an illustrated children's book in Publisher. I exported the file to create the PDF and everything went fine. I uploaded to CS without any issues. I started to work on the hardback version which required an upload to Ingram. I couldn't use the interior PDF from the CS load as I had to change the ISBN number on the copyright page. When I attempted to export the file I got an error message that Publisher could not save the file. Now just a week before everything was fine, now all of a sudden, I couldn't save anything as a PDF. I spent hours and hours researching the problem, tried different solutions that I found on line. Nothing worked. I had a very real problem as I could not load my client's book. I finally came across a short article on the Microsoft website that addressed printers. If the default printer is set to the Microsoft printer, the PDF function might not work. I realized that just before I started having the problem, I updated my Office Suite program. It changed the default to the Microsoft printer. Once, I changed back to my printer, I had my PDF function back.
