I know that company- My son was one of the Hollywood festival and New York Winners. He did indeed get a cash award, there was some press about it. He chose not to attend either event- they offered to fly him to LA- we live in NY-

We've won numerous awards, but have never attended any events. I think some of them like the Foreword Review Book of the Year is more prestigious. Either way- if you put your book in any award- it's competing against lots of other books- sometimes when it wins against thousands of others, I think it's a big boost of confidence to the author. It tells them the book stands out.
Every one of my son's books has won something, or came in as a finalist. Is there a coincidence he got picked up by an agent? Is he more noticeable because his books have had some recognition or maybe, his books are just 'good,' and that's why he got picked up? I'm not sure- but winning those things, gave him the confidence to keep going.

Something interesting happened to me today- I was invited to be a contributing author on some site called Medium.

They accepted my first article which should be put up sometime in the next few days. I don't know anything about them- but I'll let you know as I learn.

I raised Michael's prices to 2.99 and 3.99- Not only did the books sink into the black pit of high rankings- we dold nothing. I had raised my paperbacks 2 dollars and it halved what I was selling- Two nights ago I lowered all the prices and they are moving again. I'll let you know how it goes.

I'll get Brit to do it for me.
