197823 Mimi! I swear, you read my book-mind. I was just thinking about a thread for misc. links and the like with background on Chambers (perhaps bc it was so helpful for insight on the first book).

197823 Thanks for stopping by, Amanda. A fun book and a smart group of people!

197823 Hey, no worries, Amanda. I hear you on waiting for the library copy. In fact, probably a great time to be reading... it's a sweet little book.

197823 Heh. Best reason ever for cure, from a reader point of view, Emily--avoiding plurals. :)

197823 I also enjoyed Corbin's solution with Ohan, Emily--I thought that was incredibly interesting decision on his part, and one I would have liked to see explored a lot further. I share your perspective--my take is also that Corbin was disliked (although now he had evidence that he is at least a family member) enough that he figured it was a risk work taking. I really would have loved that to be explored further--Ohan seems glad of it later, but I would like to know more about that.

197823 Ah, interesting insight from a romance reader! Agree with the part about the spoilers. I think I might have said that somewhere as well, that there's kind of a lack of build or real consequence or maybe its the work of change.

197823 Toothbrush bots! So weird!

197823 I agree, but I think the 'goodness' is part of the appeal--the idea that we can be a best possible person is a welcome relief. And there are imperfect people--Corben--and you pointed out that the crew isn't quite fair in how they treat/accommodate him. So there's that.

197823 Emily, I think I had a lot of that feeling for most of the book. It didn't prevent me from enjoying it, but it kept it from a solid four or five star.
197823 Right? It kind of sneaks up on you.

(unlike notifications)
197823 Heh, Apatt, whatever way you want to read. I'm sure people are still checking in occasionally (if they get notified!)

Funny that that was the phrase that sold you... I set up the thread before reading, and I was struck by that description as well. Reminded me of how a boat has it's own noises, or even a house--air filters, random creaks, trees dropping sticks, rabid squirrels, etc. ;)

197823 Thanks, Apatt. Seemed a good time. Glad you were able to join in & loved the review.
197823 I watched Firefly for my first time a few years back, and Kizzy definitely seemed like a Kaylee take off--the optimism, the cheer, the impaired sense of style, creative, loyal, mechanically gifted, plain-speaking... yeah, for sure. But the 'socks match my hat' song won me over.

197823 Oh, I'm a die-hard skimmer, particularly lately. Idk why. Maybe my eyes are going. I have reading attention deficit, and I just want to know the ending asap.

197823 For sure, Beth. Nothing wrong with it. You added a lot of insight and shared many interesting thoughts. You've got your review practically written. :)
