197823 I noticed that as well, MrsJ. Not exactly subtle, is she? ;)

197823 I was surprised at how much Jane's story intrigued me.

197823 Haha! I love the Socks! Match My Hat! Theme song :)

Harryo--your niece is brilliant, and I'm gathering, a younger generation. So many of our (American?) traditional 'games' do seem win/lose (particularly in sports, right, when there are teams?). I'm thinking that younger people and some of the cool application-electronic type games are much better at other ways of interacting, including collaborative goals and exploration. Hard to do that on a board, I guess. I grew up with cribbage, chess, checkers, and a host of board games including Sorry!, Monopoly, Candyland, Chutes and Ladders, Life, and Memory, and really all seem to be about one winner and the rest losers.

197823 ~gulp~

I just ate this book up. Almost--but not quite--literally. I bought it, had some time free, started reading and didn't come up for air until I was done. I thought about stopping to post or check in... but I didn't. Because I really wanted to know what happened next.

Glad that you joined in, MrsJ! I knew when I saw your enthusiasm that I had something great to look forward to.

197823 My apologies, I should have mentioned I enlisted MrsJoseph to help with moderating. We used to moderate a group together for many years, and I value her organization skills. Plus, it's always fabulous to have someone this enthusiastic about a book lead :D

But what about font sizes?! Honestly, one of my most frustrating things about Kindle is figuring out length, etc.

You guys are funny! I can't wait to start.

197823 I just have to get through the next four days, and I should have hours of reading time.

Heh. I think I'd imagine it more like National Geographic in a submarine as well :)

197823 Interesting beginning-- machine as obsessively regimented. Feels familiar to Star Trek Next Generation fans, no?

197823 You two are hilarious.

197823 Well, perhaps me too. I'm finishing up 14 years at my job on April 5, so there's kind of a lot packed in there the first few days.

197823 I could certainly flex on the read time if people want to read later.
