Yes, Amazon really screwed the pooch with their "upgrade" of Comixology.

193869 Last week's adventures in comics.

Children of the Woods by Joe Ciano Children of the Woods ★★★
Some solid horror about a loser teenager and the girl he loves becoming the next Children of the Woods.

Lewis Trondheim's The Fly by Lewis Trondheim Lewis Trondheim's The Fly ★★
A wordless comic about a fly's life from its birth in a trash can up until its death. I know this is supposed to be goofy and fun, but I just found it tedious.

Pandemic (Green Class, #1) by Jérôme Hamon Pandemic (Green Class, #1) ★★★
A by the numbers post-apocalyptic tale about some teenagers trapped within a walled city after a mutant plague breaks out.

Snow Angels Season One by Jeff Lemire Snow Angels: Season One ★★
A really basic story about a family being chased through a trench on an ice planet.

Reign of the Devourer A Marvel Untold Novel by David Annandale Reign of the Devourer: A Marvel: Untold Novel ★★★★
A prose novel about Dr. Doom.

Cyberpunk 2077 - Big City Dreams by Bartosz Sztybor Cyberpunk 2077: Big City Dreams
Unlikable characters. Terrible art.

Black Hammer Visions Volume 2 by Scott Snyder Black Hammer: Visions Volume 2 ★★★★
Different creators write stories set in the Black Hammer universe ala Legends of the Dark Knight.

Julian in Purgatory by Jon Allen Julian in Purgatory ★★★
Julian is your stereotypical, unabashed loser druggie. His girlfriend finally gets fed up and kicks him out. Julian never learns as he attempts to take advantage of everyone he knows.

Parasomnia by Cullen Bunn Parasomnia ★★
A half baked story of dream worlds and reality with a plot stolen from Dr. Sleep.

Madman Boogaloo! by Mike Allred Madman Boogaloo! ★★★★
Madman crossovers with Nexus and The Jam.

The Shadow Glass by Aly Fell The Shadow Glass ★★★
Aly Fell's artwork is exceptional. If only is storytelling was as good. This is about a young woman who stumbles upon 3 men summoning a demon in 1600's England.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Dimension X by Paul Allor Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Dimension X ★★★★
Spinning out of volume 18, The Trial of Krang, the Turtles gather all the witnesses against Krang.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Volume 18 Trial of Krang by Kevin Eastman Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Volume 18: Trial of Krang ★★★★
First we see the meeting of the full Pantheon. This actually kind of reminded me of something we might have seen in a Sandman comic or something of that nature. Then Krang is finally trialed for his crimes. That ending!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Volume 19 Invasion of the Triceratons by Kevin Eastman Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Volume 19: Invasion of the Triceratons ★★★★
The Turtles have returned from Dimension X and everything has changed. The Triceratons have come to Earth to reclaim their home.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Volume 20 Kingdom of Rats by Kevin Eastman Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Volume 20: Kingdom of Rats ★★★★
In the wake of the Triceraton invasion, NYC has taken a ton of damage. All of the various factions are jockeying for more power while the Rat King returns.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Universe, Volume 4 Home by Chris Mowry Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Universe, Volume 4: Home ★★★
The weakest of the TMNT Universe books to date. With this volume, the book is becoming a true anthology book with little impact on the main book.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Universe, Volume 5 The Coming Doom by Paul Allor Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Universe, Volume 5: The Coming Doom ★★★
Some solid stories but at this point, I think it was probably a smart decision to end this series.

The United States of Captain America by Christopher Cantwell The United States of Captain America ★★
A speedster dressed like Captain America steals Cap's shield to use it to give Captain America a bad name. Steve Rogers and Sam Wilson go on a cross-country trip after fake Cap and meet a network of people inspired by Captain America called the Captains along the way.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Urban Legends, Vol. 2 by Gary Carlson Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Urban Legends, Vol. 2 ★★★
The Image run of TMNT is pretty brutal for the Turtles. Raphael lost an eye and Donatello got turned into a cyborg in the previous volume. Plus, Splinter mutated into a bat. Now one of the boys loses a hand.

Chained to the Grave by Andy Eschenbach Chained to the Grave
The highly stylized art and dayglow colors belong on a 70's blacklight poster instead of a Supernatural Western comic.

Intertwined by Fabrice Sapolsky Intertwined ★★★
This is pure 1970's Kung Fu along the lines of any Bruce Lee movie. Our main character comes to New York from China to settle his uncle's affairs when he's selected as the next Spirit of the Earth.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Bodycount by Kevin Eastman Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Bodycount ★★
Kevin Eastman tries and succeeds at creating one long gun battle. Yet, it's still very monotonous and boring. Nor am I a fan of Simon Bisley's art.

Hellblazer, Vol. 14 Good Intentions by Brian Azzarello Hellblazer, Vol. 14: Good Intentions ★★★
Brian Azzarello seems to think writing a good comic consists of just trying to shock the reader with the levels of depravity he's willing to go to.
Feb 18, 2022 08:24AM

193869 Finally someone else read Nuclear Winter. Those comics are so much fun. I like to think of them as Giant Days with mutants.
Feb 14, 2022 01:34PM

193869 Last week's adventures in comics, Mexico edition. Due to lots of cerveza and margaritas while on vacation this list is much smaller than normal.

Madman Library Edition Volume 2 by Mike Allred Madman Library Edition Volume 2 ★★★★★
Madman has had such a haphazard run of books over the last 30 years over a ton of publishers. It's awesome to have it all in one place. I love the ginchy nature of the series too.

The Many Deaths of Laila Starr by Ram V. The Many Deaths of Laila Starr ★★★★
Set in Mumbai, Death is fired from her job when a baby is born that will discover immortality. Death becomes mortal and seeks to find this boy and end his life before he cures death. Like Daytripper, it's one of those books that make you revisit your life.

The Dreaming City (Michael Moorcock's Elric, #4) by Julien Blondel The Dreaming City (Michael Moorcock's Elric, #4) ★★★
A really solid translation of the Michael Moorcock series.

Acts of Vengeance Marvel Universe by Walter Simonson Acts of Vengeance: Marvel Universe ★★★
Acts of Vengeance was the coolest idea when I was a teenager. A bunch of the big villains got together, tired of losing to their archenemies. So they mixed things up with all of the villains attacking heroes they'd never fought before. This contains the weakest of the Acts of Vengeance crossovers.

Hope by Lovern Kindzierski Hope ★★★
The story continues after The Shame Trilogy. Shame is dead but we don't get much more than a little intro of what is coming next.

Hell's Flaw by Lovern Kindzierski Hell's Flaw ★★★
Very much a middle volume that I think will read better once the arc is finished. John Bolton's art is still the draw here.

Normandy Gold by Megan Abbott Normandy Gold ★★★
A 70's political thriller mixed with a sexpoitation film and a revenge plot.

Underworld by Lovern Kindzierski Underworld
A man escapes from a mental hospital. He believes he is Odysseus travelling through the underworld instead of Winnipeg.

Dark Shadows/Vampirella, Volume One by Marc Andreyko Dark Shadows/Vampirella, Volume One ★★★★★
I was surprised how well these two properties worked together. Vampirella teams up with Barnabas Collins to take down Lady Bathory and Jack the Ripper.

Saint Germaine Shadows Fall by Gary Reed Saint Germaine: Shadows Fall ★★★
An immortal hires a writer to transcribe his life. Meanwhile his immortal wife is stealing lives to fuel her own. This definitely had a 90's Vertigo vibe to it and Vince Locke often worked for Vertigo during that period.
Feb 08, 2022 08:36PM

193869 Subham wrote: "hellblazer is such a great series and I didn't know they did another event in infinite destinies"

Hellblazer is fantastic. Currently working my way through a re-read of the series.

Infinite Destinies ran through a bunch of the Marvel Annuals last year.

193869 Last week's adventures in comics.

Hell Was Full by Branson Reese Hell Was Full
A terrible comic strip with few punchlines and awful art. Couldn't even finish it.

Superman Smashes the Klan by Gene Luen Yang Superman Smashes the Klan ★★★★★
Not only an important message but a really cool idea. This is based on an actual Superman radio serial from 1946.

Jenny Zero #1 by Dave Dwonch Jenny Zero ★★★
The hard partying daughter of Ultraman inherits his powers.

The Girls of Dimension 13 by Graham Nolan The Girls of Dimension 13 ★★
Steve Ditko era Dr. Strange crossed with Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Fearbook Club by Richard Hamilton Fearbook Club ★★
The new kid in school keeps seeing ghosts in pictures he takes for the yearbook.

Phantom on the Scan #1 by Cullen Bunn Phantom on the Scan ★★★
Psychics find out they are dying from something that's in their head.

Project Patron #1 by Steve Orlando Project Patron ★★★
What if Superman didn't return from the dead 30 years ago and the UN replaced him with a robot.

Bunny Mask The Chipping of the Teeth by Paul Tobin Bunny Mask: The Chipping of the Teeth ★★★
A supernatural woman is released from a cave by a madman. She wears a bunny mask and kills criminals. Nice creepy vibe to it.

Malika Warrior Queen Volume 2 by Roye Okupe Malika: Warrior Queen Volume 2 ★★★
Part of a neat little superhero universe set in Africa.

Out of Body by Peter Milligan Out of Body ★★★
A man in a coma begins to have out of body experiences where he's helped by a psychic and his soul is pursued by a satanist.

Silver City by Olivia Cuartero-Briggs Silver City ★★★
This has a neat concept. It's about a purgatory that everyone goes to when they die that is kind of a dreary steampunk city.

Miles to Go by B. Clay Moore Miles to Go ★★★★
This was really good. It's about a mom who was trained to be a hitman at 13. Now a government agency has killed her mentor and is coming after her and her daughter.

Babyteeth, Vol. 4 by Donny Cates Babyteeth, Vol. 4 ★★★★
Donny Cates brings his story of a teenager giving birth to the Antichrist to a close. I absolutely loved this series.

Overwatch Anthology Expanded Edition by Matt Burns Overwatch Anthology: Expanded Edition ★★★
Collects all of the digital Overwatch comics since the game's launch.

Devil's Island by Nikola Jajic Devil's Island ★★★★
Devil's Island was a real French prison during the Napoleonic era. This is a fictional story of 2 soldiers sent there to die.

The Girl Who Owned a City The Graphic Novel by O.T. Nelson The Girl Who Owned a City: The Graphic Novel ★★★
An interesting story that steals from an old Star Trek story. Anyone over 12 has died from a virus leaving children to try and survive on their own.

Ronin Island, Vol. 1 by Greg Pak Ronin Island, Vol. 1 ★★★
The Walking Dead set in feudal Japan.

America Chavez Made in the USA by Kalinda Vázquez America Chavez: Made in the USA ★★
The writing isn't bad but I hate the whole idea of this retcon. It completely changes her past and origin.

Infinite Destinies by Jed Mackay Infinite Destinies ★★★
Marvel supposedly made these annuals about the people who bonded with the Infinity Gems at the end of Infinity Wars. A couple of them do not have anything to do with the Infinity Gems at all.

The Amazing Screw-on Head and Other Curious Objects by Mike Mignola The Amazing Screw-on Head and Other Curious Objects ★★★★★
A bunch of oddball odds and ends from Mike Mignola. These wacky but macabre tales are great.

Hellblazer, Vol. 13 Haunted by Warren Ellis Hellblazer, Vol. 13: Haunted ★★★
Well, this group of Warren Ellis stories didn't hold up nearly as well as I remember when I read this back when it came out in floppies. Ellis's world view is REALLY dark.

The EC Archives Terror Illustrated by Al Feldstein The EC Archives: Terror Illustrated ★★★
Billed as Picto-Fiction, this EC collection isn't true comics but more illustrated prose.

Apocalypse Ahead (The Mythics, #3) by Philippe Ogaki Apocalypse Ahead (The Mythics, #3) ★★★
A comic for kids about some children from around the world who inherit powers to battle evil. It's a decent setup for a kids' comic. The issue is that it's very repetitive.
193869 Ed wrote: "Last month I read Parallel Lives by Olivier Schrauwen.

That has some extremely odd color choices."

Ha! Pretty much everything Fantagraphics publishes could fit in this month's category.
193869 That reminds me of John Byrne's Star Trek: New Visions comic where he used screen grabs of the TV show.

193869 Matt wrote: "I'm thinking about reading ODY-C, Vol. 1: Off to Far Ithicaa by Matt Fraction and Christian Ward. I read Black Blot with Christian Ward before and he has some of the craziest colors..."

I absolutely hated ODY-C. Fraction's writing is terrible on this one. I recommend Invisible Kingdom instead if you haven't read it.

193869 If people need a suggestion, Charles Burns's Black Hole would be a good option for those looking for something off the beaten path.
193869 Both Matias Bergara and David Rubin have unique styles. I think they'd probably count. It you are up in the air, I liked Ether more than Coda.
Feb 01, 2022 01:29PM

193869 Last week's adventures in comics.

Stranger Things Erica the Great by Danny Lore Stranger Things: Erica the Great ★★
Another inconsequential comic set in the Stranger Things universe.

The Witcher, Vol. 6 Witch's Lament by Bartosz Sztybor The Witcher, Vol. 6: Witch's Lament ★★
Vanessa Del Ray's awful, chicken scratch art ruins an interesting Witcher story.

The Rebels of Vanaheim A Marvel Legends of Asgard Novel by Richard Lee Byers The Rebels of Vanaheim: A Marvel Legends of Asgard Novel ★★★★
Heimdall fights draugr in the latest Marvel prose novel set in Asgard.

E.X.O. The Legend of Wale Williams Volume 1 by Roye Okupe E.X.O.: The Legend of Wale Williams Volume 1 ★★★
The story of a Nigerian Iron Man.

Postal The Complete Collection by Bryan Edward Hill Postal: The Complete Collection ★★★★
Postal is the tale of a small town, Eden, Wyoming, which doesn't exist. It's a town not on any map. It's not in government records. It's where the worst criminals go when they have nowhere else, to start over.

God of War Volume 2 Fallen God by Chris Roberson God of War Volume 2: Fallen God ★★
Pretty pointless.

Hyper Scape by Christofer Emgård Hyper Scape ★★
Ready Player One without all the nostalgia. Based on a video game I've never heard of.

Falconspeare by Mike Mignola Falconspeare ★★
A decent vampire story marred by overly busy, rudimentary art.

Critical Role The Mighty Nein Origins Caleb Widogast by Jody Houser Critical Role: The Mighty Nein Origins: Caleb Widogast ★★★
A really dark and depressing story of a young mage sent off to school where he was twisted into being a monster for the Empire before breaking free. Not bad, but also not as fun as other Critical Role comics.

Memories from Limón by Edo Brenes Memories from Limón ★★★★
An artist illustrates his family's history in Costa Rico.

Catwoman Soulstealer (The Graphic Novel) by Louise Simonson Catwoman: Soulstealer (The Graphic Novel) ★★★
A graphic novel adaptation of the Sarah J. Maas novel.

The Saga of the Jack of Spades by Chase Kantor The Saga of the Jack of Spades ★★★
This comic is based on a version of medieval version of England where the country is split up and run by the four houses from a deck of cards.

Necromantic by Lovern Kindzierski Necromantic ★★★
An undead love story. When a CIA agent's lover dies, nothing will stop him from returning to her. Part ghost story, part over the top, 80's testosterone, action-fest.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Urban Legends, Vol. 1 by Gary Carlson Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Urban Legends, Vol. 1 ★★★
In the 90's the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles moved to Image for a darker version of the Turtles that get put through the ringer.

Batman vs. Ra's Al Ghul by Neal Adams Batman vs. Ra's Al Ghul
Proof that DC will print anything with Batman in it, including this insane nonsense from Neal Adams.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles The IDW Collection, Volume 8 by Dustin Weaver Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The IDW Collection, Volume 8 ★★★
This collection only has 2 issues of the regular series. The rest are miniseries and spinoffs.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles The IDW Collection, Volume 9 by Kevin Eastman Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The IDW Collection, Volume 9 ★★★★
The TMNT books continue to be fantastic.

Crime Syndicate by Andy Schmidt Crime Syndicate ★★
A real lackluster reboot after what Grant Morrison and Geoff Johns both did with the Earth-3 characters.

193869 Last week's adventures in comics.

Magical History Tour #4 The Crusades by Fabrice Erre Magical History Tour #4: The Crusades ★★★★
These historical primer comics for kids are great. This one did a great job of simplifying 200 years of the Crusades.

Out of the Blue The Complete Series by Garth Ennis Out of the Blue: The Complete Series ★★★★
Garth Ennis continues his streak of fantastic war comics.

Love Me Please! The Story of Janis Joplin by Nicolas Finet Love Me Please!: The Story of Janis Joplin ★★★★
A very good way to quickly learn about an artist who died before I was even born but made music that has lived on way past her death.

Hellblazer, Vol. 11 Last Man Standing by Paul Jenkins Hellblazer, Vol. 11: Last Man Standing ★★★★
Constantine vs. Merlin

Hellblazer, Vol. 12 How to Play with Fire by Paul Jenkins Hellblazer, Vol. 12: How to Play with Fire ★★★
The first two-thirds of this are lackluster as Paul Jenkins ends his run. Then Garth Ennis returns for a horrific story of a demon let loose in the body of a mobster's son for 12 years. It is terrific.

E.X.O. The Legend of Wale Williams Volume 1 by Roye Okupe E.X.O.: The Legend of Wale Williams Volume 1 ★★★
The story of a Nigerian Iron Man.

Hunter of a Different Stripe (Jack Wolfgang #3) by Stephen Desberg Hunter of a Different Stripe (Jack Wolfgang #3) ★★★
In a world filled with anthropomorphic animals in addition to humans, Jack Wolfgang is a world renown food critic by day and a CIA agent by night.

Goblins (Pathfinder) by Adam Warren Goblins (Pathfinder) ★★★
Nasty goblinses gets their own comic. Much fun, killing and maiming.

X-Men Unlimited Infinity Comic #5 by Gerry Duggan X-Men Unlimited Infinity Comic #5-#12 ★★★
Obscure X-Men, Nature Girl and Curse along with a German Shepherd go after corporations polluting the Earth in X-Men: Green.

Origins by Clay McLeod Chapman Origins ★★★
This story has been told before. It's the dystopian future where the machines took over and all humanity has been wiped out.

Basilisk, Vol. 1 by Cullen Bunn Basilisk, Vol. 1 ★★
Five people walk out of the Appalachians one day destroying everything in their path. Each one of them has bizarre control over one of the 5 senses, turning them against you.

Ryuko, Volume 1 by Eldo Yoshimizu Ryuko, Volume 1
The women are running around in bikinis and cowboy boots with guns. The action sequences are indecipherable. Yockimizu's idea of a action panel is to add a ton of ink until you can't even tell what's happening. Oof, this was awful.

Specter Inspectors #1 by Bowen McCurdy Specter Inspectors ★★★★
A team of ghost hunters get trapped in the world's most haunted town when one of them gets possessed by a demon.

Wonder Woman by George Pérez, Vol. 4 by George Pérez Wonder Woman by George Pérez, Vol. 4 ★★
Wow, that was boring. I really had to power through to finish. By this point, George Perez was just coming up with the plots and Mindy Newell was doing the actual scripting.

Batman The Long Halloween Deluxe Edition by Jeph Loeb Batman: The Long Halloween Deluxe Edition ★★★★★
It's early in Batman's career and there's a new killer, Holiday, on the loose who kills on holidays.

Doctor Doom, Vol. 1 Pottersville by Christopher Cantwell Doctor Doom, Vol. 1: Pottersville ★★★
Latveria is framed for destroying an installation on the moon and the world is now after Dr. Doom.

Doctor Doom, Vol. 2 Bedford Fall by Christopher Cantwell Doctor Doom, Vol. 2: Bedford Fall ★★★
Cantwell has a good handle on Dr. Doom's personality. I like Doom's wavering between trying to be good or not. That ending was brutal though.

Gideon Falls, Vol. 4 The Pentoculus by Jeff Lemire Gideon Falls, Vol. 4: The Pentoculus ★★★★
This story of multiversal horror is really picking up steam now. Yes, it's still trippy with plenty of unanswered questions.

Gideon Falls, Vol. 5 Wicked Worlds by Jeff Lemire Gideon Falls, Vol. 5: Wicked Worlds ★★★
The Five have been scattered across the multiverse of Gideon Falls just as it all begins to collapse.

Gideon Falls, Vol. 6 The End by Jeff Lemire Gideon Falls, Vol. 6: The End ★★
Gideon Falls fizzles out to its end in its over-sized, single issue finale. Lemire gives us an ending even if it doesn't feel very satisfying. None of the why is filled in.

Iron Man by Christopher Cantwell, Vol. 1 Big Iron by Christopher Cantwell Iron Man by Christopher Cantwell, Vol. 1: Big Iron ★★★★
Tony is going through a midlife crisis. He's left Stark Unlimited and sold off most of his tech, starting over in a brownstone in NYC.

Postal, Vol. 1 by Matt Hawkins Postal, Vol. 1 ★★★★
Eden is a town funded and run by criminals. Our main character is the mayor's son, Mark, a postal worker with Aspergers. Each of our characters have their secrets except Mark. Mark sees a lot that others don't and uses his ability to help others.

Postal, Vol. 2 by Matt Hawkins Postal, Vol. 2 ★★★★
I loved the boxing story but couldn't really get behind the opening story that felt like a direct ripoff of the movie Strangers.

Postal, Vol. 3 by Bryan Edward Hill Postal, Vol. 3 ★★★★★
A new sociopath comes to Eden and sets her eyes on Mark.

Postal, Vol. 4 by Bryan Edward Hill Postal, Vol. 4 ★★★★
This volume takes an aside from the main overall plot to advance a story straight out of American History X.

Postal, Vol. 5 by Bryan Edward Hill Postal, Vol. 5 ★★★★
Mark's mother decides she wants to see how he would do as the mayor so he takes over for a month.

Postal, Vol. 6 by Bryan Edward Hill Postal, Vol. 6 ★★★★★
Isaac is coming for Eden and he has a rogue FBI agent who craves justice in tow.

Postal Vol. 7 by Bryan Edward Hill Postal, Vol. 7 ★★★★
I like how Hill capped the series off and then came back with two one-shots that answered most of the lingering questions. This was a great series and unlike a lot of series, was given a suitable ending.

193869 Last week's adventures in comics.

M.O.M Mother of Madness #1 by Emilia Clarke M.O.M.: Mother of Madness ★★
Emilia Clarke (Daenerys from Game of Thrones) wrote a comic about a woman who gains superpowers at a certain time each month.

Leone Notes on a Life by Carmine Di Giandomenico Leone: Notes on a Life ★★
Gorgeous art but not much of a story.

Syphon by Mohsen Ashraf Syphon ★★★★
A paramedic is given the ability to syphon other people's pain away, although it then goes into him. After he discovers someone else like him, he realizes he can syphon other emotions as well. It's an interesting take on an empath.

Small World by Jean David Morvan Small World ★★★
A strange, hyperviolent, cyberpunk Peter Pan set in the favelas of Brazil.

School of X A Marvel Xavier's Institute Anthology by Gwendolyn Nix School of X: A Marvel: Xavier's Institute Anthology ★★★★
A collection of prose short stories about the students of the New Charles Xavier School for Gifted Mutants from the Brian Michael Bendis era of the X-Men.

Geiger, Vol. 1 by Geoff Johns Geiger, Vol. 1 ★★★★★
Given the glut of post-apocalyptic comics out there trying to come up with original ways for the world to end, I found this refreshing to go with the old standby boogie man I grew up with in the 70's and 80's, nuclear war.

Home, Vol. 1 by Julio Anta Home, Vol. 1 ★★★
Raises the question "What if the X-Men were born in Central America and tried to immigrate to the U.S. during the Trump administration?"

Fine Print, Volume 1 by Stjepan Šejić Fine Print, Volume 1 ★★
This feels like a bunch of disparate ideas Sejic had and then tried to figure out how to put them all together. It's about a screw up succubus looking for a "golden contract" and a world of succubus and cupids having sex in secret.

Shadecraft, Vol. 1 by Joe Henderson Shadecraft, Vol. 1 ★★★★★
Zadie is struggling to survive high school when she begins to suspect shadows are following her. We find out her brother was in a car wreck a year ago and is now in a coma. Soon after her shadow begins talking to her...

Helm Greycastle, Book One by Henry Barajas Helm Greycastle, Book One ★★
This was just odd. Your traditional Dungeons and Dragons party gets dumped into the middle of the Aztec Empire and are enlisted to overthrow Montezuma.

Overwatch Tracer--London Calling #1 by Mariko Tamaki Overwatch: Tracer--London Calling ★★★
Tracer from the game Overwatch gets her own miniseries.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Vol. 1 by Kyle Higgins Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Vol. 1 ★★
This thing is not new reader friendly at all. It takes place during some episodes from the show (that I gleaned from reading other reviews) after the Green Ranger, Tommy, had turned on Rita and became a Power Ranger.

RASL (RASL, #1-4) by Jeff Smith RASL ★★★
Jeff Smith of Bone fame creates an adult comic about a scientist hopping dimensions to steal artwork while attempting to stop the government from causing a disaster using his technology.

The Heart of the Beast by Dean Motter The Heart of the Beast ★★
This is billed as a modern gothic romance, originally coming out from Vertigo in 1998.

Transformers/Back To The Future by Cavan Scott Transformers/Back To The Future ★★★
Exactly what you'd expect from a crossover between Transformers and Back to the Future. The Decepticons get a hold of the DeLorean right after the end of the first movie and remake time so that they have taken over the Earth and enslaved humanity.

Bone Tall Tales by Jeff Smith Bone: Tall Tales ★★★★
Smiley Bone takes some Bone children camping where they proceed to tell tall tales around the fire. It's fun.

The Mystery of the Meanest Teacher by Ryan North The Mystery of the Meanest Teacher: A Johnny Constantine Graphic Novel ★★★★
Designed solely to give Alan Moore an aneurysm, this is actually a pretty fun comic for kids.

The Blade of Kumori by Ron Marz The Blade of Kumori ★★
Some modern day descendants of a samurai clan now function as assassins.

Oz A Gathering of Heroes by Stuart Kerr Oz: A Gathering of Heroes ★★★
A darker take on further adventures in Oz. Solid for an independent comic from the 90's.

193869 Last week's and last year's adventures in comics.

Solar Flare Port Charlotte by James Haick III Solar Flare: Port Charlotte ★★★★
The premise of this comic is that a giant solar flare set off a world-wide EMP that destroyed all electronics.

Solar Flare Sarasota by James Haick III Solar Flare: Sarasota ★★★★
Our group of protagonists make it to Sarasota while being pursued by a right-wing militia called the New Americans.

Captain America Infinity Comic #1 by Jay Edidin Captain America: Infinity Comic ★★★★
A right-wing group who takes over Independence Mall in Philadelphia to bring the "real America" back. I liked how it mirrored the last couple of years of real life dingbats.

It's Jeff! Infinity Comic #1 by Kelly Thompson It's Jeff! Infinity Comic ★★★
Cute, little, wordless vignettes featuring Jeff, Gwenpool's pet land shark from West Coast Avengers.

Promethee 13 13 (Prometheus #0.1) by Andy Diggle Promethee 13:13 ★★★★
This was pretty cool. It's about a woman who was abducted by aliens when she was a child. She's had visions ever since about the Apocalypse which turn out to be real. Turns out this is a prequel to a French comic which I'm going to need to track down now.

Amazing Spider-Man by Nick Spencer, Vol. 13 King's Ransom by Nick Spencer Amazing Spider-Man by Nick Spencer, Vol. 13: King's Ransom ★★
Nick Spencer is more concerned about writing more Superior Foes of Spider-Man than actually writing Spider-Man. Can't wait until I'm finished with Nick Spencer's run on Amazing Spider-Man.

Blue in Green by Ram V. Blue in Green ★★
The story of a failed jazz musician sent spiraling after the death of his mother.

Batman/Superman The Archive of Worlds by Gene Luen Yang Batman/Superman: The Archive of Worlds ★★★
Gene Luen Yang and Ivan Reis craft a story straight out of the Silver Age. Autuer.io is an alien god with the powers of a movie director to other realities. Batman and Superman from various realities all cross between these worlds by burning through their film and leaping into another one.

The Final Girls (comiXology Originals) by Cara Ellison The Final Girls ★★★★
As the editor says in the afterward, "This is a comic about the shit men do and the women who are left to deal with it.", just with superpowers.

Harley Quinn Vol. 1 No Good Deed by Stephanie Nicole Phillips Harley Quinn Vol. 1: No Good Deed ★★★
Stephanie Philips actually brings a redemption story along with her and not just the slapstick and toilet humor of the Amanda Conner / Jimmy Palmiotti run. Harley wants to be better. She's decided to help reform the people who sided with the Joker during [Batman: Joker War|].

Sharkasaurus by Spencer Estabrooks Sharkasaurus ★★
Cheesy B-Movie schlock in the best SyFy channel tradition. It's completely ridiculous.

Wonder Woman, Vol. 1 Afterworlds by Becky Cloonan Wonder Woman, Vol. 1: Afterworlds ★★★
Wonder Woman wakes up in Asgard with no memory after Dark Nights:Death Metal. She ends up on a way too long pan-dimensional quest for 10 issues.
