Gideon was the library shooter. He was hired by Jeremy to kill Breckon. He thought his father would then leave everything to his son. He felt his son would lose favor if Breckon had another child and it was a boy. Jeremy later died from a fall from a cliff when he was out walking with his father. In all probability, his father killed him.
