Salt Bride... the bad girls obvious, but far more demented than they realise. There's also one I read that had a 'lord-ish' guy rush marry to ensure his heir because of a debilitating family disease that has already claimed his father and brother, but he doesn't want to sire the baby. There's a demented character in that one too, if it sounds like something you'd like, I'll go hunting.

Dean Koontz has a couple that might fit. One is about a mother getting contact from her 'dead' son after a school trip accident took out the whole class. Another is a group of people who had an event happen at a remote motel and are now gravitating back to try and figure out what had happened to them.

I looked EVERYWHERE... and it was where I really should have looked first :/The Marriage Bargain, Jennifer Probst
His sisters childhood friend. She needs money to save her families house, and he needs a wife. They are both just about opposite of what 'they asked the universe to provide'. The dogs are from her work at a shelter and he clearly stated on his list no pets.

There's a scene similar to that in The Sterling Boys by CM Owens. It's the third book in the Sterling Shore series.

Funnily enough, this is the same book... and I didn't finish it by the looks. Too many bits irritated me. But from memory, it's 'a bad book TO ME'. Not 'a bad book that everyone should avoid', if that makes sense.

I vaguely recall one where the H needed a fiancée/girlfriend ASAP (maybe for a wedding or just a family gathering). She was a friend of a friend and either the friend or the H told her he was gay to convince her to help. Think he was rich and she needed money for an op for one of her family maybe? Think they might have been based in NZ and needed to go overseas for his family thing. She was a plain Jane who was of course really gorgeous under all the bad clothes. There was a hot Dr chick trying to get his attention at some point who wrote the h off as no competition. If it sounds familiar, leg me know and I'll go hunting.

A bump is when you make a "comment/bump" on your thread after it has been quiet for 30+ days. A few threads are solved in minutes, most take longer... some take years. Patience is key (if irritating ;).

Lol, it sucks doesn't it. Try WEIA. It's second in a trilogy by Kristen Ashley(?) - The Three Series. First is, Until the Sun Falls from the Sky. Her characters were a little annoying to me, but there are heaps who love them... and I still get tempted to re-read, even tho they annoyed me.
(Sorry, on my phone so no linkages)

Looking for new adult romance books that have quiet or shy heroes instead of the usual alpha male

Probably not, but similar. Meet at a wedding (not exs), hit it off and hook up. Then 'meet' at her exs bday party the next day after he told his friend (the H) all about the ex wife (the h) he's still in love with and that they are sorting it out and getting back together. Her two tycoons, Marie Kelly (sorry, can't link)

The H isn't physically scarred, but was told after an accident he was sterile. Salt Bride, Lucinda Bryant (sorry, on my phone so can't add link)
Maybe that dragon one that cane out around Harry potter? Eregon? Eragon? Something like that. Think the author was something like Christopher Palin maybe? He was only 13-14 when he started writing it. It was made into a movie too. H is a dragon rider which are all but extinct and he hatches a dragon egg... At some point, not sure which book, he blesses a orphan baby, but turns out he used the wrong phrasing so instead of being protected, she was a protector. The magic forced her to place herself to protect others even as a baby, so she forced herself to grow.
