It's aliens and not landscapes or ships, but this book is very entertaining and ticks some of your memories... Barlowe's Guide to Extraterrestrials: Great Aliens from Science Fiction Literature It was published in 1987, though.Another possibility is Spacecraft 2100 to 2200 AD, which was published in 1978.

Bluestockingirl ~~It's never a lost cause on this website group. We have had books solved after 10 years. I personally had one book found after about six years. I can tell you it is extremely gratifying to have the book found even after all those years. It's quite a thrill!
