Well, the kangaroo one is probably Josephine Wants to Dance by Jackie French.

Justine Clarke has a song The Dancing Chicken.

And google throws up Chicken Dance by Tammi Sauer.

Best of luck with your search.

185 Australian books but good for that age - enjoyed by my daughter and my niece who have both read Percy Jackson and Harry Potter: Friday Barnes by R.A. Spratt. Currently 4 books in the series. Language is straightforward, mysteries are reasonable, but doesn't talk down to the reader and lol funny.

Graphic novels such as El Deafo by Cece Bell and Flora and Ulysses: The Illuminated Adventures by Kate DiCamillo.

The Sisters Grimm series, first book The Fairy-Tale Detectives, by Michael Buckley.

Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine.

Anything by Michael Morpurgo.

And, for something totally different, a book about mathematical concepts. The Number Devil: A Mathematical Adventure by Hans Magnus Enzensberger.

This sounds about right but cover doesn't match your description.

Sunnyside Up with Red Ketchup by Ashley Andrews

DiCarlo Brides series by Heather Tullis.

Sisters are Cami, Sage, Lana, Rosemary, Delphi, Gage.

Thanks!"

Sleeping with the Enemy by Tracy Solheim?

185 Bunny and the Bear by Eve Langlais or Beast Behaving Badly by Shelly Laurenston?

Neither quite fit the description; just putting them out there since sometimes books get mixed up in our heads.
185 Guess: Guarding Laura by Susan Vaughan (but they did know each other in the past)

185 Sounds like something from Siren publishing, in particular the LoveXtreme collection. (view spoiler) They are often (usually) HFNs with a multi-book story-arc.

Might be worth checking their website: http://sirenpublishing.com/index.php?...
