177170 I agree with Brianna that it was a little bit harder than the first book to get through. It had slow parts and several characters that were a little dull. But I never once felt annoyed at having to pick up the book and keep plugging away.

This is one case where watching the show before reading had really helped. Because I had a bit of an idea what was coming it kept me going knowing full well the slow parts would pick up.

Roseanne sorry the audiobook was a bit of a bust. Perhaps just read the chapter summaries to be reminded of what has happened in the books????
177170 Just finished the book and will report back after I have had a chance to process at bit more. I nearly cried at the very end when Bran looked at the state of Winterfell and parted ways with his bro.

I definitely love thed Bran chapters the best in this book.

Well as of five minutes ago:

He is my favourite! Period. I've arleady decided to rate this book 5 stars just because of Tyrion. He is a leader, he is ga..."

Oh killing him off would be horrid!!!! GRRM would need a team of huge body guards if he did that.
177170 "To go north, you must journey south. To reach the west, you must go east. To go forward you must go back, and to touch the light you must pass beneath the shadow."

I don't really remember that part but it sounds like someone has a broken compass!!!
177170 I think Theon has started to realize he is in over in his head. This may have been a mistake?????
177170 " One step and then another, and I will not fall."

That is a great life motto for when we face challenges. I like that quote a lot.
177170 Very true Roseanne. There is all kinds of weirdness in this world.

not me...still not done this one
177170 My eyes failed me and I misread a word. I got a little giggle out of it.

The book says:
"He heard no alarums, no voices, not so much as a footfall."

But I read it as:
"He heard no alarums, no voices, not so much as a footBALL."

I was a little confused about why he would hear a football in this world.
177170 lol If the reader is left Wondering I think is a true sign of a good book.

And yeah I never thought of Renly's corpse - No clue what ever happened to it.

177170 I know I am in the minority but I have a lot of trouble picturing in my mind what book characters look like even if there is a pretty good description. If there is a movie adaptation of a book I am reading I sometimes look online to see what the characters look like for a better picture in my mind.

But I do know I am in the minority. Most people I bet feel similar to you Ria.
177170 Yes. So I just opened it to find out? lol
177170 Yes the comet had seemed to fall off the wayside for a bit.

177170 Roseanne if I were you I would start back at the beginning and watch in order. I would not think starting with the new season would be your best bet. But when to do that is your call.

just my two cents
177170 Yeah he is being a d--k!

As far as him being kept at Winterfell for years, I think he was treated well there...Hardly a prisoner, and close to a sibling to the Stark kids. So I don't think he is behaving this way as revenge on the Starks.

I think he is behaving this way because of all the crappy treatment he got back at Pyke by those who didn't recognize him or who did recognize him and didn't treat him well. He is feeling crappy about himself and is doing to those at Winterfell what has been done to him at Pyke-but worse. He felt like a nobody back home but here he wants to feel like a Lord. That is the kind of thing bullies do. Well, or else he is just a giant d--k. There is always that possibility too.
177170 I quite like Brienne. It must be hard for her to be stuck inside Riverrun with Catelyn and not out on the battle field where she is well suited.

The last line of the chapter Catelyn thinks "But if we are winning, why am I so afraid?"

I can tell you why....'Cuz when it seems too good to be true it likely is.' I get the feeling that shit's gonna' go down in a hurry Chickie!
177170 Terry I don't understand either. That was very weird.

177170 I am still at a cross roads. Do I watch the show as it runs or do I try to read all the books first? Perhaps the next book will be out by the time I finish all the other books.

I don't know what to do???????? Luckily when it is a busy time for me . Hopefully I forget it has even started but that is doubtful.
