174195 I need help and didn't see this one in the list of topics...on the home page there's a place to track your challenge for the year. It says to:
"How to: Create a dedicated shelf in your profile, copy-paste its name (not the url) in the "challenge box" and add your books to this shelf!"

I did that - it's called: 2021-book-a-week-challenge. I've put that in and saved it multiple times but it's not updating with the books that I've read from that shelf (1 read, 3 on it total). What am I doing wrong?? Thanks! :)

OOOHHHH good to know about the Viscount Who Loved Me - I just finished the first one and got this one. I'll wait until next week to start it!

174195 I just saw this and I’d love to join for August!! I’ll edit my post later today - just getting in car for road trip (I’m driving).

August 2019:
Summer Nights
One of the most famous songs from the musical Grease, Summer Nights was a hugely popular song in summer 1978.
☀️ Read a book published in a year that includes any two of the numbers 1, 9, 7, 8 (eg 1955, 2017, 1802, etc)
☀️ Read a book where an event that’s important to the plot takes place at night
☀️ Read a book with a main character who shares a first or last name with a character or actor from the movie Grease

2. Summer is too short for bad books
So pick a book you’re pretty sure you’ll enjoy.
☀️ Read a book in a series you enjoy
☀️ Read a book by a favourite author
☀️ Read a book published in 2019 that you have been looking forward to

3. International Beer Day
Held on the first Friday in August, this day encourages people to enjoy a beer with friends and sample new beers from other countries.
☀️ Read a book where the first letter of each word in the title appears in INTERNATIONAL BEER DAY
☀️ Read a book where the characters drink beer or visit a bar.
☀️ Read a book that is the first book you have read by an author from that country (example: I’ve never read a book by a Sudanese author so I could count a book by Tayeb Salih for this prompt.)

4. Back to school
Summer always goes by so quickly. Before you know it the days are getting shorter, it’s edging towards autumn and for students it’s the start of a new school year.
☀️ Read a book by an author who is new to you
☀️ Read a book from this list of books often read in high school
☀️ Read a short book, defined as 200 pages or less

174195 Edited May 28
174195 Why is it that last week I listened to 4 books that were ALL connected!! 3 had women whose mothers were no longer around (died, abandoned, never there) and two were connected through Jane Austen. Figures! Now I'm trying to figure out what to read...I like the idea of Fiction and Non-Fiction, but I'm traveling next week and know I'd be lost in a non-fiction book unless it was a memoir or something.....I'd love to do romance or historical fiction or something. Any suggestions? And one needs to be audio, but the other can be an actual book since I'll finally have time to read!!!

Edited to add: Figured it out!! Went through all the audiobooks I already have downloaded and matched up a few pairs, but one I'm going to do:
Nonfiction: Killing the SS: The Hunt for the Worst War Criminals in History

Fiction: The Tattooist of Auschwitz

That would fit the parameters - really a great book!

174195 Question: I'm doing the audiobook of The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry, but can also download the physical book. Is it important to follow the map while you read the book?
174195 Some people mentioned reading You for this - my book club tried reading this last year and I'm the only one who finished it. I did the audiobook, but everyone else tried reading it - they were freaked/grossed out by the character who was speaking. I think it helped I did the audiobook. I think I'll read the sequel to it, Hidden Bodies.

174195 I need some help with picking a book. The ones I wanted to do I either did for a different week or I can’t get the audiobook. Would these books work for literary fiction?? I can’t remember which books I picked for which prompts - I lost my original paper list and hadn’t updated my lists on here fully. I think some of these were for other prompts (women who wrote using a man’s name comes to mind):

The Picture of Dorian Gray, The Age of Innocence, The Time Traveler's WifeRebecca, Mansfield Park, Jane Eyre, The Invisible Man
174195 Elise wrote: "Erasure by Percival Everett would work for ebonics."

Thanks Elise - that sounds interesting!

174195 Emm wrote: "If you liked Ready Player One, you could try Armada by the same author. The audio is narrated by Wil Wheaton."

Thanks Emm - That sounds like a great book!
174195 1973 is my birthyear and there are some interesting words - I'm cracking up with some of them!

Any suggestions for books with any of these words in their title or subject would be greatly appreciated - and the more the better because it'll most likely need to be an audiobook.
