If you guys want to start now, go ahead without me. It'll be around a month before I can get to it.

Oh, not soon, probably. I don't have a copy of it yet. Will tell you when I do.

I just finished the first one days ago. Once you're done with it, I could join in for the second.

168927 Where I was earlier. Read 4 chapters. How far did you get back then? Just asking so one of us can catch up before we start again.

168927 How far along are you?

Thanks. I guess I'll read whichever I get my hands on first (that's the cue for any BYOB member who has it to get it :p). Truth is, I've been reading mostly light stuff recently, so now I want to get into some heavy reading.

I really want to try The Stormlight Archive, and depending on how much I like it, Mistborn. The basic complaint I've seen online about The Rithmatist is that it has too many teen fiction cliches, which isn't a problem for me when the characters are so much fun to get to know and the conflicts are so relatable yet somewhat new.

168927 Finished The Rithmatist (The Rithmatist, #1) by Brandon Sanderson . It's kind of short, but that is only part of the reason I'm done so soon. The other part is that it's friggin' AWESOME! Highly recommended to Harry Potter fans and people who don't find math unbearable.

168927 Just finished The Bourne Identity (Jason Bourne, #1) by Robert Ludlum . Great book. Intense plot, complex characters, moral dilemmas, just all around great.

Currently reading The Rithmatist (The Rithmatist, #1) by Brandon Sanderson . It's basically the new Harry Potter, but not quite as good.

I'm about to start reading Norwegian Wood in a few weeks. We could buddy-read if you wish.

If you're open to graphic novels, Saga Deluxe Edition, Volume 1 is one of the best fantasy stories I have ever read. It handles large scale politics and personal relationships with equal brilliance, and the incredible art gives you the chance to actually see the world you're reading about. It's also very, very irreverent and funny.

That's the idea. This isn't a book for Superman fans (plot-wise, it's just a retelling of his origin, really), it's the book that makes people Superman fans.

168927 I haven't yet finished all of these, but these are the 5 series that are considered all-time greats.

1. Harry Potter (high school fantasy)
2. The Lord of the Rings (medieval fantasy adventure)
3. A Song of Ice and Fire (political medieval fantasy)
4. The Kingkiller Chronicle (it's different)
5. The Stormlight Archive (highest rated on GR)

168927 Okay, I'll start soon.

168927 Just saw the movie. Loved the performances, but it sugar-coated the ending too much...
