Mike. We do not let authors peddle their books here. What makes you think it's okay to peddle your services here? Well, whatever it is that makes you think it's okay, you're wrong. We don't allow promotions of any kind.

I have been moderator here for years and I don't recall that thread. That doesn't mean it never existed, but I don't remember it. It would not have been deleted, though. We only delete threads that are against the rules of the group and I doubt such a thread was against the rules.

It takes time, lots of time, for most authors to get noticed by a great number of people. If you only have one book and it's the first in a series, chances are people are waiting to see if the rest of the series materializes. It's become very common for writers to put out one or two books of a series, then give up and not put out any more. People don't want to waste money on the first part of a story that might never be finished.

What you need to ask yourself is: Why do you write? Is it because you're hoping for instant fame and fortune or is there something else?

Riley!

Sometimes I feel like this group has become some sort of ghost town and I'm that lonely old prospector that still lives there twenty years after everyone else moved on.

Perhaps you need to use your intellect to take moment to read the rules before posting your crap. Your entire post is not appropriate for this community.

I know I've already tossed my two and a half pennies at this, but reading your comment made me want to add something to the discussion. Many years ago I read this horror novel called "The Funhouse". It was cheesy and stupid and boring, etc. I thought it was one of the worst things I'd ever read. Some years later I picked up another book. The premise was more or less the same, and the title was the same, but it had a different author... so I thought. I bought it hoping it would be a much better book. It was the same novel! Turns out it's a novelization by Dean Koontz of a crappy Tobe Hopper film, which I've also seen and which also sucked. Koontz originally published it under the name Owen West. I wasted money on buying the same novel twice. I have been told Dean Koontz is actually a good author, but I won't buy any more of his books. I felt swindled.

Now, this is not saying your book is terrible, Wanjiru. I don't think I've ever read any of your work. But, even if it is good, and someone ends up buying it twice because of the title change, they might swear off your books forever. It's a possibility.

154447 Response to Beth,

I deleted your comment, as it goes against a number of our rules. The bookshelf hasn't really been maintained lately. I should fix that. However, when we did maintain it, only moderators were allowed to add books and the books had to be written by other members of the group. Since you have just joined, you are not a moderator, and I do not believe your friend is a member of the group.

Yes, I understood that. But, having not read the book, I don't know what her "perfect plan" is.

154447 1. As DT said, there's more than one art style here and it does look like clip art. Especially the paper plane. Not a big fan of questions like, "What could go wrong?" when I have no idea what the book is about. When I see a cover that looks as if it didn't take a lot of planning to put together, I assume the writing is much the same and, no, I won't pick it up.

2. Humor.

3. I don't really write or think in terms of age groups, so I'm no help there.

4. I looked up your book and at the cover you have on Goodreads. I like it better. The one on Amazon is a little cluttered, but I think it's even better than this one. Why do you want to change?

I've sent you a friend request. NO PRESSURE but if you accept it, I'll see if I can message you then.

I wonder if you need to enable messages or something. I looked at your profile and I don't see a way to message you.

Personally, I think it's a terrible idea to change the name of an already published book. Do it if you must, but that's my personal opinion.

I might be interested. I love doing beta reading, even though sci-fi isn't really my thing. How many pages? If you want to respond, you can send me a message through Goodreads, or respond here.
