153021 Wow, your third time! You must love it. I've read a considerable number of Steinbeck novel but not this. I don't have time at present to read it, but your interest makes me want to read it someday. :)

I haven't read any of them, Anisha. A group read is always a good time to be ambitious. :). Besides, I find them quite short (which I like), and we have two months!

153021 I finished Agamemnon and will be moving to The Liberation Bearers. There is a lot of violence in these plays.

153021 Welcome to our final husky read for the year, East of Eden by John Steinbeck!

Published in 1952, East of Eden is the most ambitious work of Nobel Laurate, John Steinbeck. It is a family saga, bringing to life the two families of Trasks and Hamilton and their interwoven stories. It touches the themes of love and identity. East of Eden is often referred as "modern retelling of the Book of Genesis". Steinbeck considered this work to be his magnum opus.

John Ernst Steinbeck (February 27, 1902 – December 20, 1968) was an American writer, who won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1962. He authored 33 books, including 16 novels, six non-fiction books, and two collections of short stories. Grapes of Wrath, East of Eden, Cannery Row, Of Mice and Men, Tortilla Flat, The Pearl are some of his popular works.

Anyone planning on reading this?

153021 I'm sorry it didn't work for you, Lesle. I agree. His meanings are mysterious, that you can't understand them. I didn't - not a single story. :) I just put my own interpretations on them. :) Somehow, I enjoyed doing that, although his message eluded me.
