Yeah... it is seriously very frustrating. Why mess up the end?!

147920 Finished my 1st - Small Hours - 4/5 (more like 4.5) - A well-written book. Very engrossing. But the ending made me almost throw my Kindle, it was a bit frustrating, though it made a lot of sense.

147920 Dagny - Wow, I'm so glad that it turned out to be so good. I'll also try to get it from my library.

147920 Creepy??? How did I miss it?!

Added to my TRB list :D

147920 I'm reading Small Hour. Only 10% through but I'm already liking it. This book spans over only 1 day and the author has given an hour by hour account of a couple's activities.

147920 @Dagny - I haven't read Digital Fortress yet, but I have read others by him and they were very good (Da Vinci and Inferno. I read Angels and Demons when I was 16 Yrs old (10 Yrs ago) and at a very bad time so don't exactly remember that.)

I'm looking forward to knowing your thoughts on this one. If it'll be good, then even I'll try and see if my library (the one on wheels) has a copy. Hope you'll liek it :)

147920 I'm starting with Small Hours

Unquestionably. It'll be the easiest! And finally I can get some books down for this challenge :D

147920 Hey everyone,

It is AUGUST and we're moving steadily into the mid 3rd quarter of the year. For this month we have only one genre and this one is going to be quite easy as nearly all the books we read today (the new ones) fall unwittingly into this genre.

There are absolutely no limits so you can interpret this genre in its broader sense and include other similar genres and/or subgenres that you feel might have a wee bit of similarity with the main genre. You can also include books that are not particularly centered around the main genre but has its components or elements somewhere in the story.

The main intent of this challenge is to incorporate different kinds of books and genres in our normal reading routine to make the experience more fun and entertaining. Please do not lose yourself in the technicalities as we all know how literary genres can be confusing.
If you have any doubts or questions, then post them below and we'll be happy to answer/discuss them.

Following is the DEFINITION for this month's genre:

Contemporary Fiction: Contemporary literature is literature with its setting generally after World War II. We're doing Contemporary Fiction, so everything post WWII is counted except for non-fiction.

Here's a quick summary of the levels:

Level 1: Casual Reader: 1 book (easy)
Level 2: Frequent Reader: 2 books (moderate)
Level 3: Bookworm: 3 books (mildly strenuous)
Level 4: Bibliophile: 4 books (strenuous)
Level 5: Bookiopath: 5 books or more (challenging)

Please mention what type of books you'd be reading:

PB: Paperbacks
EB: E-Books
AB: Audio Books

Please feel free to announce your to-read books along with the level you are targeting for below.

PLEASE READ (for new members):
1. You can read any number of books for the respective genre each month in one particular month.
2. Take your time and go through your entire TBR-list before deciding the books to read.
3. You can join the challenge at any stage (in any month.)
4. You can drop out of the challenge any time you like.
5. You can select different levels every month.
6. Use this discussion board to share your reads with other members of the group.
7. Please be active and don't hesitate to ask questions or recommend books.

Happy reading!

147920 I just managed to read one this month - Players - 4/5

I wanted to read World War Z, but I came across Kane And Abel and just couldn't put it down. So only one for this month :(

147920 Dagny is right, it will count as it's not your fault. :)

So true! I can imagine the excitement you might have felt seeing the mobile library.
I'm already looking forward to its next visit :)

Probably the only one really worth reading unless you're like me and like the characters. I enjoyed seeing what happened to them in the later books even though the books themselves weren't that great. "

Thanks for this. I'm already excited to read this! :)

I thought so... BTW, the 'recommend' feature is really good. My library can really use that.

Oh, BTW talking about libraries, today I saw something I had never ever seen before - A library on wheels! I was sitting in my study, writing, and when I turned my head, it was standing right outside my home!! I got so excited that Vishal had to literally put a bottle to my mouth to drink some water and calm down. LOL!
It was a mini-truck kinda vehicle and they had 2 rows of books (in English, Hindi and Marathi.) It was run by a trust fund and the guys who came were volunteers. They had a lot of books tucked behind those shelves. I was so excited that I joined their 'moving library' for an entire year. The rates were so less, the total 1-year fee was about the price of two Stephen King books! Can you believe that!! And the best part is they give 5 books per month! Imagine. And the books smell so good!!!

My old library was so expensive that I literally had to save for it for almost 6 months to get the year long package (which was half than the normal rates!)

147920 Dagny wrote: "Lovecraft's writing can be quite hard to read at times. His style is old-timey - he always fancied himself as an 18th (or maybe 19th) Century Englishman."

I got the feeling it was something like this. I literally had to re-read 3-4 sentences more than 4-5 times pausing with the commas and colons to really get them. I even skimmed over some. Lol.

147920 Cheryl wrote: "I hope you do write that book, Heena. It would be more realistic showing how an apocalypse affects ALL types of people, and readers would have alot of empathy for the characters and what they'd have to go through. I would read it!"

Thanks for the lovely idea. I'll definitely keep this in mind :D

Thank, Dagny!
Oh, BTW, about River City Dead I'm not sure if it'd be available at your library as the book is published by a small press publisher. And yes, it is a part of the series and I've heard good things about all the books in this series by other reviewers. Do let me know if you read this series :)
