I would also like to thank each and every member of the RMFAO family who have made it possible for our little group, RMFAO, to be what it is today - a cozy corner for all book lovers and a place to freely discuss books. It is you, especially all the active members, who keep the spirit of this group alive. So Thank You <3
I hope this year brings with it a lot of books, happiness and reading time for you all!
At RMFAO we always begin our year with a Science-Fiction month and this year, keeping up with this tradition, we'll be starting 2021 with a month full of amazing science-fiction reads, old and new alike.
There are absolutely no limits so you can interpret this genre in its broader sense and include other similar genres and/or subgenres that you feel might have a wee bit of similarity with the main genre. You can also include books that are not particularly centred around the main genre but has its components or elements somewhere in the story.
The main intent of this challenge is to incorporate different kinds of books and genres in our normal reading routine to make the experience more fun and entertaining. Please do not lose yourself in the technicalities as we all know how literary genres can be confusing.
If you have any doubts or questions, then post them below and we'll be happy to answer/discuss them.
Here is the DEFINITION for this month's genre:
Science-Fiction: Science fiction (often shortened to sci-fi or scifi) is a genre of speculative fiction, typically dealing with imaginative concepts such as futuristic science and technology, space travel, time travel, faster than light travel, parallel universes, and extraterrestrial life. Science fiction often explores the potential consequences of scientific and other innovations, and has been called a "literature of ideas." It usually eschews the supernatural, and unlike the related genre of fantasy, historically science fiction stories were intended to have at least a faint grounding in science-based fact or theory at the time the story was created, but this connection has become tenuous or non-existent in much of science fiction.
Here's a quick summary of the levels:
Level 1: Casual Reader: 1 book (easy)
Level 2: Frequent Reader: 2 books (moderate)
Level 3: Bookworm: 3 books (mildly strenuous)
Level 4: Bibliophile: 4 books (strenuous)
Level 5: Bookiopath: 5 books or more (challenging)
Please mention what type of books you'd be reading:
PB: Paperbacks
HB: Hardbacks
EB: E-Books
AB: Audio Books
Please feel free to announce your to-read books along with the level you are targeting for below. Though it is not necessary as you can announce your reads as and when you decide or read them.
PLEASE READ (especially new members):
1. You can read any number of books for the respective genre every month.
2. You can join the challenge at any stage (in any month.)
3. You can drop out of the challenge any time you like.

And thanks to you for helping me through my initial days of struggling with Audiobooks (both you and Cheryl really helped me through it!) And thank YOU for getting me hooked on Librivox! It was a gamechanger!

Thanks a lot, Fran! Yes... I remember two years ago I was practically begging and asking for tips from Dagny and Cheryl to share tips to be able to listen to more audiobooks without falling asleep. Lol.
They both have helped me so much in getting used to audiobooks and with some really great recommendations too especially from Librivox! Dagny is the one who got me hooked to them in the first place :D

Happy listening!

After the unexpected, unapologetic, unprecedented and, quite honestly, crazy year that 2020 was, I hope that RMFAO continues to be a that pillar on which we all booklovers can lean and take a little time for ourselves and our souls and talk about books.
We are here with the 7th instalment of the most amazing reading challenge on this planet *drumrolls* - RMFAO's Genre Challenge.
For the 7th year of this challenge, we have 17 awesome genres and a special surprise planned for the month of July, so stay tuned!!
For those who are new to this challenge, for Genre Challenge, we read one genre every month (sometimes two when we have the alternate-genre months.) We post the genre list in advance (for this year's genre list see below) so that we can plan our reads in advance. The focus of this challenge is not only to read more books in the genre we love but also to give us a chance to explore new, unfamiliar or lesser-known genres, not to mention the joy of reading with other book lovers and exploring new titles that they love and adore.
We don't want to burden or restrict the participants by specifying sub-genres because that creates a very different set of its own problems that will hinder the actual reading. Therefore, you can pick the sub-genres as per your convenience.
Another perk of this challenge is that you don't have to buy new books to participate in this challenge; all you have to do is go through your own books and organise your TBR-list as per the genres for this challenge.
Another one of the coolest things about this challenge is that the modtoreras are super awesome sharing tons of resources and recommendations. What else can a bookworm ask for!?
In order to participate, simply announce your participation here (you even blog about it if you want to.)

All The Best and Happy Reading!

After the unexpected, unapologetic, unprecedented and, quite honestly, crazy year that 2020 was, I hope that RMFAO continues to be a that pillar on which we all booklovers can lean and take a little time for ourselves and our souls and talk about books.
We all love reading series (how can we not, right?) There are so many amazing series that we simply can't have enough of. Reading about the familiar characters, following their lives one book after the other and exploring their worlds intimately is an entirely different experience than reading a standalone novel. Reading series is like living in different-different fictional worlds in a true sense. But so many times, much to our dismay, we fail to complete a series that were started long ago. Sometimes "real life" comes in the way and some time procrastination does, but no matter what we always think about reading and completing these series, but to no avail.
This challenge is devised for this very problem, and we are happy to present the 7th instalment of this extraordinary challenge - RMFAO 2021 Series Challenge.
RMFAO 2021 Series Challenge is here to give you an opportunity to complete the series you've longed to complete for a long time! You can even start with a fresh series and try to complete it within the year. Just pick a level you want to aim for and start reading.
Levels:
Level 1: Casual Reader: 1-2 series (easy)
Level 2: Frequent Reader: 3-5 series (moderate)
Level 3: Bookworm: 6-8 series (mildly strenuous)
Level 4: Bibliophile: 9-10 series (strenuous)
Level 5: Bookiopath: 11 series or more (challenging)
