I actually haven't read any of their individual works yet. I have always wondered about joint writing projects. I can see how it would be great to work with someone, but it would also be a challenge if you disagree on how something should work out.

One of he themes I can think of is tunnels! I don't know what these guys want to represent with them, but most of these books have tunnels and underground lairs in them.

What are some of the recurring themes in the books? What element or themes seem to be prevalent in all of the books? What is their significance?

Welcome to our new folks, I am afraid Laurie is correct this isn't the most active of groups, but we are nice (unless you are a bad guy living in an underground lair then look out)
Nice to have our new folks.

Has anyone read
Cemetery Dance what do you think so far?

Any idea when DP,LC are coming up with Beyond Ice Limit?"I honestly think that was just an "Easter Egg" or a tongue in cheek joke. I don't think they are going to write Beyond The Ice Limit. Maybe Smithback will though

An Easter Egg is just a hidden surprise. In Software development programmers will often sneak in little fun surprises if you know how to find them.
In books, Easter eggs are quirky little references or clues that while not essential to the plot are kind of fun. Check the discussion for examples. One other easter egg from another series is the fact that J.K. Rowling and Harry Potter share the same birthday.

I think it would be very doable to get Paul Bettany (
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0079273/ ) to play the part. He was a more than passable albino in the DaVinci code and he has the thin look, maybe not quite tall enough though.
BTW was Pendergast even in the movie version of
Relic?

Susan,
Welcome to the Task Force. You are welcome to start new discussions, add you comments to others. I have been working (sporadically) on sharing some of my favorite Easter Eggs from the books.

I noticed references to the events but not the book. Another Easter Egg that I noticed was that
Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child attribute their early novels to Smithback in later novels. I found it clever, but I can see how it could be a little annoying. I think it is a funny tongue in cheek way of reminding readers that "Hey these are just books"

On of the first Easter eggs I notices was in the book Still Life with Crows. Agent Pendgergast's assistant Corrie Swanson was regularly reading the Novel "Beyond the Ice Limit"

This Discussion thread is a place to comment on and annotate funny, silly and humorous inclusions in the novels. In other words Easter Eggs that Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child have hidden in the novels.

Please introduce yourself here and let us know why you joined the group and what you hope to contribute to the group and get from the group.
Myself, I am a Professional Development trainer and confirmed Bibliophile. I have always loved reading and have become a fan of fantasy only lately. I first read Relic because I remember the ads for the movie being amazing. I am very glad I did read the book. Boy the movie stank. Anyway I had sort of paid attention to some of the other books coming out and I picked up Reliquary and read that then picked up Cabinet of Curiosities and realized I had missed some stuff. I went back and read Thunderhead.
Recently I was able to snag most of the rest of the books at the local library and I have been hooked. Just wanted a place to share my thoughts on the books and hopefully get some insights into stuff I hadn't noticed.
