I recently read Kavalier & Clay, which I really loved. (Not YA.) And I finally read "Fault in Our Stars," whic..."Have you ever thought about writing contemporary then? I have to admit that contemporary is not my favorite. I like to escape far far far from reality when I read.
Amy wrote: "My best friend, Josie Angelini, wrote a great series Starcrossed. I can see me and Kate hanging out with her and Helen for a day."Ooh I'd hang out with Helen and Josie too.
Amy wrote: "Kate was based on me— she is the teenager I wish I could have been. Die for Me was my first attempt at fiction, and I was afraid to veer too far from reality."My first heroine, Kelsey, is the same for me. I feel closest to her because I put so much of myself in that book and in her character.
Amy wrote: Yeah - I'm sorry about that cliffie. There IS a sequel. It is this: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...
And it is coming out in May of 2015. (I'm at the copyedit phase, so almost done!) "Just tried to preorder it. Not available yet but it's on my list.
Amy wrote: "Jackie wrote: "But I got the inspiration to write a paranormal romance after reading Twilight,"Yet another thing we have in common. I started writing after reading Twilight too.
Amy wrote: "And then I mixed in the Jungian theory of the collective unconscious to extend the "earth magic" to exist between living beings."If we went to school together I'd totally sit next to you and hope to absorb some of your brain power. Also I'd want to be in your group for all the assignments. ;)
Samantha wrote: "Amy- I was wondering where you came up with the ideas for your books?
Amy and Colleen- Also, if you could be a character in any YA book who would it be and why?"That's a hard question. I have to go with my own character Kelsey since she gets to kiss both Ren and Kishan but if I had to pick another I'd probably choose Jacinda from Sophie Jordan's Firelight.
FirelightI had to scan through hundreds of books I'd read to even find a heroine that didn't suffer terribly. I'd hate to suffer terribly. ;)
Amy wrote: "Favorite song: this is ever changing. Maybe this (Sufjan Stevens, The Dress Looks Nice on You): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0OkX_...
TV show: Game of Thrones, Sherlock, Dr. Who."The song is pretty! I really need to try Dr. Who. Too chicken to try Game of Thrones.
Amy wrote: " I'm trying to learn to use Scivener, which takes care of all of that, but it's taking me a while. "Me too. I have a hard time giving up Word.
Heather wrote: "Colleen wrote: "Heather wrote: "Do you have any upcoming book signing events that you will be going to? And do you plan on attending the book festival at the Inner Harbor in Baltimore,MD IN Septemb..."Hi. It looks like applications for this year are over. Remind me to check into it next year around March or April. =)
A. wrote: "HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO KELSEY HAYES...AND MYSELF!!!!!!!"Thank you and happy birthday to you, too.
Alison wrote: "Dear Mrs. Houck,
When Tigers Curse becomes a movie, who do you want to play Kelsey, Ren and Kishan?"I don't really have anyone in mind. It's hard to find someone to fit the look and personality of Ren or Kishan. Did you have any suggestions?

Welcome to the group! Sophie will be answering questions on Monday, March 30th in this thread only. In the meantime if you have a question for the author or just want to introduce yourself feel free to do so in this thread.
Heather wrote: "Do you have any upcoming book signing events that you will be going to? And do you plan on attending the book festival at the Inner Harbor in Baltimore,MD IN September of this year?"I'd love to head out to Maryland. Is that a conference where you'd need to be invited? Send me a link with some info on it and I'll look into it. That goes for anyone else who has suggestions on stellar conferences you think I should attend. =)
Jodi wrote: "I would think that they would be to change his appearance after his decision, so that their future/past selves (in Tiger's curse) wouldn't be able to tell that it was him. ."Hmm that's an interesting idea. I cannot confirm or deny that statement at this time. ;)
Jess wrote: "Have you ever thought of making a published novella in rens p.o.v. on some of the scences that happened in the tiger's curse series?"I don't know that I would do enough to publish but all the scenes I've done so far are available for free on my website. Look under the blog heading "Bonus Material"
Karli wrote: "Just curious. How many of your self published editions of Tiger's Curse and Tiger's Quest were made into physical copies? At there not that many out there?"No not too many. My guess is around 300 of each. I have maybe 5 sets left of that number.
