uhm uhm
maybe something in french?
or like something similar to the word revival?
131200 Just those two for now would be good.

Also!!!
I plan to edit Marina with her regressed personality as shit starts to go down and she gets more agitated, so anyone wanting to collab with her for anything will likely only really be able to tolerate/not be scared shitless by her behavior for like a day or two after the collapse of the quarantine zone

( twas shitty )

Jos' attention left the tiles on his screen for only a second as the door opened, glancing up a second time as he spotted the blue streak in Ruby's hair in his periphery vision. He watched her struggle with the lighter a moment longer, lounging back against the cold brick wall. He'd already finished his cigarette but had been far too engulfed in his game to get back inside. That aside, he needed a few minutes anyway to push the thought of unfavorable things from his mind. He slid his phone back in his pocket and kicked off the wall in a motion so easy it was like one movement.

His fingers slid over Ruby's. "Easy there; don't wanna burn yourself." He took the lighter from her gingerly. A few more clicks from lighter and a flame flickered into fruition. The rise of his brows and slight widening of his eyes were all that were needed to complete the smug purr, "There we go." He lit her cigarette and then returned the lighter to her, slipping it into the pocket of her apron.

"Johnny said something, didn't he?" The stout manager had a way of getting under people's skin. People not Josiah, anyways. He had a knack for dealing with him quite easily and with very little effort. Plus it was a little funny to see the man sputter and backpedal.

131200 Try Manu Rios?
I think we can go with Zhenya
I mean, his parents were terrible people that literally never admitted to anything they did wrong, so if either of them cheated, neither of them would have acknowledged it. so that leaves a possibility of half-siblings.

The words were there--they totally were--just stuck in his throat at her rhetorical question. At least he thought it was rhetorical and not meant to throw him into some kind of frenzy. If he wasn't already the color of a tomato with how hard he was blushing, he should have been then. He laughed along with her references, shoving his hands into his pockets because he had this deep-seated temptation to hold her hand for some reason and that was a definite no right now.

"I'm totally not a Casanova." His objection was based on years of being shot down, though he suspected it had much to do with the fact that he was considered the all-around nerd since middle school and dating him--even if out of pity--would have sent those people's social standing plummeting. He swallowed again, nodding. He wasn't trusting his voice with anything more than a few words. He couldn't trust that he wouldn't blurt out that he thought she looked good in whatever and he'd rather stay here and sit inhumanly close to her while they watched a movie. "Yeah, sure."

He trailed after her like a puppy would their master. Mrs. Walker was, to be frank, as amazing as her daughter. Even in her current state, she could still laugh and crack jokes. He was sure that she was probably the same way before her diagnosis and that had to have taken some strength. He hoped he wasn't smiling like the dork he was, because Mrs. Walker would easily catch on. She probably already had figured out everything, anyways. Just thinking about that made him glance up at Kai--okay, that was her ass in his face and at this very instant, he regretted being a teenage guy.

Ley blinked, trying to replace the image with dead puppies or his grandmother down the road. Or maybe he'd try that trick his brother had suggested. It was gross, but it would do for the three point five seconds he had left on the stairs before he flashed his crush's mother with his boner through his jeans.

marina DEL GADO
rina ━━━━━━

[ 24 · ?? × femme · bisexual × seattle, washington · student ]
THERE'S A LOT ABOUT RINA that has changed. She's glad for it, feels better for it. If she had never been found, she doesn't know what she would have ended up as. So to make up for lost years and repay er seviors, she works hard. There are times when people say she might work a little too hard, but she doesn't let up. She has to get it done, get it finished. She's become an actual person and she's not going to let that go. Rina is also a perfectionist in every sense. She believes that her work must reflect her improvement, even if she had just learned to read a little over seven years ago. She has to seem like every other person her age. She has to catch up and stay with everyone. She has to distance herself from the memory of her past self. Marina will run from it as fast as she can, even if it means wrecking her body in the process.

Everyting has a logical explanation and Marina is content to believe this. Her decisions have never been made on faith or instinct since her integration into society. She plans carefully and slowly, deliberating every step. There had to be a reasoning behind her actions--just in case someone asked--and there had to be something worth any risk taken. And even then, the reward must be equal to the risk. She's not going to stick her neck out for just anything. And everything must be in place. Rina checks every last detail until there's nothing left to worry about, and then she cecks it again. It's like a safety net, knowing that everything is where it should be. Some would say her workspace is immaculate because of this, or even her apartment. But keeping clean keeps her sane, displaces all memories of the grime and dirt she was found in.

She can proudly boast about being intelligent. It was shocking, at first, to know that she was as smart as she was. With the way she'd grown up, she didn't think much of anything about herself. But knowing her own level of intelligence has made her more confident. And that, in turn, has made her more sociable. She's never without someone to talk to, even if it's for something superficial. While she doesn't divulge much about her own past, she does make a pletora of comments on anecdotes told to her by her colleagues. She can smile and laugh, crack jokes and tell stories witin reason. She can be a person. And she loves knowing that. So much so that she'd do anything to keep it that way.
HER NAME WAS NOT MARINA, or any name at all. They called her by pronouns and curses. They kept her caged and leashed. When they wanted to see her do tricks, they pulled on the fetters around her neck and laughed. They would be the nameless entity that she would put behind her, but she was not Marina then.

No one knows how she ended up in the situation, but the assumption was that she had been there since birth. Which was an effective conclusion considering the state she was in when the authorities found her. It had been luck that they ha opened the paddock she'd been caged in, hidden beneath a rough blanket that let the winter air through. She would have died, had they not found her. She was malnourished, dehydrated, and dying slowly. This wasn't the simple game of house she could recall being told they were playing. She was regarded as a little more than a dog and that was how they treated her.

At sixteen years old, she didn't know her name or age, but that would be figured out much later. She behaved like an animal, frightened and violent as she was pulled away from all that she knew. Her words were growls and feral sounds that sent chills down the spines of the officers. They shoved her in the car and took her to the station, but had little to no idea of how to deal with her. But, blessedly, the paper left her unnamed and pictureless. They knew of her, but not her. She was a nameless entity that would haunt the presses for the duration of her case.

She spent her nights in the county jail because they had nowhere else to put her. She'd already attacked several other girls that she'd been roomed with, refusing everything they could have done. Because she didn't understand what was happening. Not until they brought in someone who claimed to be a specialist. It seemed to work, but they couldn't be so sure. It took months, but they coaxed her to cooperate. This was a sign, a good sign, and they pushed on. Push too far, she retreated and they had to start from square one all over again.

Eventually, they got her talking. She was like a child, babbling and stringing meaningless sentences together. But she was quick. Soon enough, she was reading and writing and doing things far beyond the level they had been expecting in the period of time it had taken her. In the course of three years, she had shown the aptitude to be a member of MENSA. It was only a quick search that told her what this was and she was as surprised as everyone else. It took another year to fully integrate her, but by then she didn't care.

They showed her work to the local public school and they found no reason for her not to take the GED exam. Completing it in place of her schooling, she was able to enroll in a college of her choice if she wanted. And she wanted it. She completed her courses and had decided that she would be a lifelong scholar if she could. This led to her applying to graduate school, and it's been quite entertaining thus far.

Josiah had a bad habit of beating himself up. Not in a way people would notice, though. His eyes scanned the screen of his phone as he scrolled through the timeline, a cigarette burning between the fingers of his free hand. Oh, look, baby pictures of a nephew he'd never meet. It seemed like Valencia was doing well. And like she would never mention her actual family again. He wondered what like she fed her wonderbread husband about them in the first place. Taking a drag of his cigarette, he let himself off the hook and switched to one of the games he must have mindlessly downloaded on his phone.
