I'm thinking her regression is fairly slow, like it's just little things that people would think are weird, but nothing like super big
until it's too late and she's literally growling at people

marina's regression is triggered as a coping mechanism for the literal end of the world
so it probably starts up when she enters the quarantine zone bc a) lots of people panicked in a small area tends to be a breeding ground for negative emotions and doubt
b) she tends to push herself to seem normal so it's likely that she's already workin hard and thus putting stress on her mentally

her father is current mayor, and she's among the first to head to the quarantine zone as a vip
while there, she meets sam ( one of elle's characters ) and is like "he's cute" so she kinda just wraps him around her finger
and later lets in a zombie that sets off a chain reaction of turnings that brings down the quarantine zone

I feel like life back home would be hectic and dismal
bc everyone is working
kids, women, men; if they weren't drafted or enlisted they likely were working in factories and mines
