I like Midsomer the best, though there are now a terrible lot of them. I think the very first ones would be the best to get the idea of the series. The first several years of them have the same Inspector Barnaby, but the last few years there has been another. The sidekicks have changed a number of times through the series which is now possible 15 or 20 years old!

Well, in my mind, a pretty satisfactory ending. We do find a culprit, and we do learn about Edward and all the other possibilities for the conman. Looks like Edward might be returning in some other adventure. Nothing like someone in the secret service to help one in future mysteries!

Since we will be done, I say one, with spoilers implied.

The stories are probably located in other anthologies, but I thought this group, in one volume would be easier. Can you check the library?

Joan is the cook and is dating Michael. Janet is the other one, having some sort of thing with Edward.

The letter at the beginning of the book? The preface?

Just finished the read a few minutes ago. Things do get wrapped up satisfactorily!

I guess it is that time again! I think last month we talked about going lighter on the read for July and August and focusing on Miss Marple and Poirot short stories. (If that's not right, let me know!)
I suggest we look at four Miss Marple short stories for July. In the book Three Blind Mice, there are four stories, one for each week. They are: "Strange Jest", "Tape-Measure Murder", "The Case of the Caretaker", and "The Case of the Perfect Maid". (I specifically tried to avoid the Tuesday Club Murders, as there are 13 stories, too many for the month.)
Any thoughts or other suggestions for the month? I can host, if you'd like.

Didn't Joan like and date Michael? Edward is certainly a mysterious person--should be like him or is he a villain?

Never even heard of her. Current day writing or older book?

I get both Father Brown and Midsomer DVDs but I'm a bit behind on watching them. Also, Murdoch Mysteries--do any of you watch them?

Yes, about the papers. Both books so far have had something of Maggie's someone wanted to get a hold of. I'm still not sure about the charming and apparently rich former beau of Maggie's.

It didn't matter so much, because Janet has her opportunity (albeit reluctantly) soon enough.

I have Fios, but not the Hallmark Mystery channel

I've read about half and will finish soon. I was waiting for the discussion to start. (I forgot who was hosting as well. At least it wasn't me!)

Yep! Started it last night.

Good news! (PS: I started reading the Bennett Case yesterday!)

Yes, that would be nice to know. As it is, there were so many deaths in DCATE that the murderer is almost the only one left!

The ending of Crooked House in the book was very controversial for Christie. They wanted her to change it, but she stuck to her guns.
