I felt a hand on my hand. "Wh-" Suddenly I was in Rhys arms, lifted off the ground. "Gears won't mind if we're a bit late." He smirked. "Can't resist you-" He tugged my face towards his before I could even breathe. I kissed him back, the world drowning out in the moment and all I could feel were his hands and lips.

"Ma?" I repeated, then laughed. "Mari?" OH. "Gears!" I called, rushing through as Rhys was following me along with Fry. "Scratch that, Fry, maybe she wants us to come. Or just me." I stopped. "I'm going alone to find her."
Rhys immediately shook his head. "Nuh uh, I'm coming with you."
"rhys-" I stopped. He gave this one goofy smirk that I fell in love with and I scowled at him. "Using that face for advantage, huh?"
His smirk grew wider. "Yes." Was all he said. I couldn't help but laugh and Fry waved as he left. "JUST MAKE SURE SHE AIN'T TOO MAD." He called.

I snuggled up against Rhys as he held me close, staring up at the sky. A beetle came up and I swat it away. "Gross."
Rhys laughed and we stayed silent, just enjoying our company together alone until someone crashed into the forest, bumping into us. "Fry?" I bolt up. "I'm so sorry, I'm coming." I was a cook along with Frypan and here I was, relaxing while I was supposed to be doing my job.
"It's okay, but have you seen Gears and Newt?" My best friend and her 'boyfriend'. I smirked but then remembered how angry Gears had been. "No, but I think- don't look for them." I said abruptly.

Rhys and I had woken up, my head on chest, lying in the grass. I lie there peacefully for a few minutes until I stir, which causes him to wake up. "Oh crap- wha- Goldie? How long you've been awake?"
I smiled at him. "Just ten minutes." He smiled back and we kissed, feeling peaceful until realization crashed down on us. I tensed and Rhys felt it. "It's okay, Gears will come around." I nodded softly, running my hands through his hair.

"She's right." I snapped. "you couldn't have survived like she did, Gally."
Gally turned to me with a red face. "Don't you-"
"We're done here." Rhys said. Leading me away.

"Let her go." I said firmly, wrapping my arms around Rhys's waist. "Let her cool down- and Alby?" I snapped. "She disobeyed the rules for a reason." I glared at Gally about to lunge at him as well, but I set my foot and stayed put. "You deserved that, shuckface."

"Gears!" I tried to yank her off, but Rhys held me back. "Wait-"
"The rules, slinthead!" I screamed. "You'll get banished-" Part of me was extremely proud that finally- Gally was getting a beating. Finally, Alby shoved Gears off and she growled.
Newt approached her and before anyone could say anything, he pulled her in for a hug.

"Shuck- I'm such a slinthead." I cried, letting Gears lean on me. "Did-" I swallowed.
"You see a Griever?" We were walking towards the med Jacks hut and Gally was extremely annoyed, finishing my sentence for me. I glared at him and he gave me a smug look. "Look at them, oh my God, they're heroes." He said bitterly.

I hadn't slept all night. I was caressing Rhys's hair as he slept and muttering to myself over and over again. "She's fine, she's fine, she-"
The doors opened when I was deep in thought and 3 figures stood at the doors. I screamed and jumped up, running so fast, I could've been a Runner. "GEARS!" I screamed. I barreled into her, crying and gripping her shoulders.
