My apologies, Roseanne, I know you didn't mean it that way. :)

Aw, it happens overnight, doesn't it?

That's a good analogy, I agree. I much prefer following a TV show for 10 seasons to watching a one-shot movie or binge-watching something over a weekend, which would correlate with my love of long books. I guess I'm a long-term commitment kinda gal, heh!

They don't necessarily sit and read all day, and they probably have responsibilities of their own. Like I said - different reading speeds, different lifestyles.

Guys, can we try not to make anyone feel like they're being judged here, please? As long as everyone is reading, no matter how much, the world is a better place. Thanks.

Nothing crazy about doing what you love to do for as long as you want to do it each day. Different people have different reading speeds, read books of different lengths, have a different amount of time each day to spend on reading. My mother is a fast reader, and I've seen her devour an entire book in an hour - if she did that 2 or 3 times a day, she could get through 71 books in a month easily, and I wouldn't call it crazy. If it's what you love to do, it's what you love to do, and this group is the right place to be to share that love. I would think fellow book-lovers would understand that more than anyone!

Thanks for the numbers, everyone! We're doing great so far this month!

118012 Loooooooooong. I can't get into short books, no matter how hard I try. I don't get a chance to get sucked in, feel like I know the characters, feel like I'm living in their world. 800+ pages is my preferred length. Me love my books long time. ;)

118012 Well, July's grand total is in - 595! That's the best we've done since March. :D

That makes our year-to-date tally 4,738!

We still have quite a way to go, but we can get to 10,000! I know it!

Follow this link to the thread where you can post your August number - https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

118012 It's that time again! How many books did you read in August?

(For our new members: We're trying to see if we as a group can read 10,000 books this year, so at the end of each month each member counts up how many books they've read, and they post that number to that month's tally thread. Every member is free to join in!)

118012 Ella Minnow Pea - it's short to begin with, and half the pages are only half-pages! It's also an excellent, excellent read.
