Travel the world through books. Pick up a book set in South America.

Are you ready to find out whodunit? Choose a story that follows a detective, private investigator, or amateur sleuth through a mystery.

Power dynamics are everywhere. Find a book that explores the consequences of someone seeking power over others. Or literally, read a book about electricity. I'll leave it up to you to interrupt this one however you want.

This is an easy one. Just pick up a book by one of your favorite authors.

Picking a title for a book is an art. The best titles take a book to another level while poor titles get a book passed over on the shelf. For this prompt, choose a book with an unusually long title.

That feeling when you read a book that just speaks to you, it's unmatched. In 2023, I want you to read at least one book that you would rate five stars.

Enjoy the faster pace of a young adult novel with the fun of exploring a historical setting in this prompt.

Time to insert some magic into your reading life. Whether fun and whimsical or dark and mysterious, read a book about magic for this prompt.

Forget the heavy emotions. Time to read a book that makes you happy.

Ranging from fact-based history to opinionated self-help (and fact-based self-help to opinionated history), pick up an award-winning nonfiction book and see what the hype is about.

In my completely unexpert opinion, I consider modern classics as books written between 1950-2000.

Hit up your friends and read a book from their bookshelf.

Scarlet. Crimson. Cardinal Red. Poppy Red. Cherry. Rose. Garnet. Apple.
No matter the shade, it's time to read a book with a red cover.

I know the shiny new releases are distracting with their tantalizing promise of finding your next favorite book. However, for this prompt, go back and reread a favorite book instead.

Go through your Goodreads to-read list and sort by oldest to newest because it's time to finally read one of the books that has been languishing at the bottom of your to-read list.

To round out the 2023 Reading Challenge, pick up a holiday romance. Don't feel like you need to limit yourself to Christmas or New Year's. Love can bloom all year round - even at Halloween or St. Patrick's Day.
