How was Alias Grace? That one has been on my TBR for a long time and I hope to get to it next year."I really liked Olive Kitteredge, The Summer that Melted Everything and Red Notice. Alias Grace was good as well; I'm glad I finally got to it!

Done! Bring on the 2024 Challenge! :)

Murder Road is now on my list! It looks really good!

I wasn't thrilled with Final Exam; I thought it would be a better legal thriller.

1, Thirteen Reasons Why
2. Beloved
3. The Hate U Give"I am just starting The Hate U Give; I listened to Thirteen Reasons Why on audio years ago and I loved it!

Congrats on finishing! I also really enjoyed the Sundown Motel!
Now you need to get working on your list for 2024!!!!!! :)

I really enjoyed My Sister the Serial Killer; short chapters made it a quick read and I was entertained. I also enjoyed Olive Kitteridge so much that I got and read the sequel shortly afterwards; both were excellent. Just finished a Wrinkle in Time; it was okay, it didn't blow me away, perhaps because by the time I got around to reading it, the premise of collective memory had been done many times.

Good job, Jami :)"Thanks! I try to read all 16 of them; once I put them in a list, I like to see them crossed off!!!!!!

I feel like I need to explain myself. See, I have barely read anything for the past month. BUT, MY GARDEN ..."My reading for June is going at a good pace. I had surgery on my tongue last week (that is not a surgery for the faint of heart!!!) so I had a few days of no reading, but now that I'm slowly recovering, I am back on track! I went to the library to pick up the one book I had on hold, and came home with 7! And congrats on a fantabulous garden!!!!!!

The Book Woman's Daughter was as good as the first book, which doesn't always happen. Pig Tales was a interesting combination of fun stories about pigs' intelligence and horrific information about the pork industry.
Jennifer wrote: "Agreed, Jami -- I just finished this and it was fascinating. But it also makes me question things that at this point are considered to be X and wonder which ones will turn out later to have been Y ..."I guess it goes to show that you need to do your own research, educate yourself and make decisions based on what you think is best for you.

Finished a bunch more: Soul of an Octopus, Forever Interrupted, Elephant Company and The Summer that Melted Everything. I wasn't as enamored with Elephant Company as I thought I would be. I really liked The Summer That Melted Everything; it was interesting, unique and the characters drew me in. Soul of an Octopus was good and I learned some things; Forever Interrupted was sad, but good.

I finished the audio version, and it was really interesting. I thought his choices of the top 7 were good ones, although if I sat and thought about it for awhile, I'm sure there are many more examples of this. Some of this was downright scary; it makes me think harder about following some current medical guidelines without looking into the facts. I remember eating nothing but margarine when I was a kid, and my mom telling me how much healthier that was than butter. More recently, I have read conflicting things about statins. I looked into it a bit more and made the decision to go off of them after I experienced side effects.

Did you see that there’s a new mystery series featuring a 70 year old widow by Spencer Quinn, author of the Chet and Bernie mysteries? It’s called Mrs. Plansky’s Revenge and I think is coming out in July. I can’t wait to read it!

I just downloaded it from Audible! This looks like it’s right up my alley!

I finished! The solutions to the mysteries surprised me, which is always a good thing. Overall, I liked this book and will try the next in the series at some point.

I'm almost done! I haven't gotten to the solution to the murder yet, but I'm really enjoying the characters as the book progressed. It has a little bit of everything - mystery, humor and some bittersweet moments. There were a few poignant observations about life at Coopers Chase. I don't have the exact quotes or pages, but the author makes the point about lights being on in the hospital part of the complex at night because the business of dying is different than living. Joyce also makes an observation that when they lose a friend, someone comes over to give their condolences and people know what to say because they have done it often enough.

It was a little slow to start for me, but once I got going, I’m enjoying it! I’m up to chapter 33, so I have a ways to go. A line on p. 59, the start of chapter 18, resonated with me. Elizabeth is talking to Donna, and tells her, “Donna, like any modern woman, I am a number of things, as and when the need arises.”

Finished Red Notice; I absolutely loved this fast-paced, inspiring and gripping book. Highly recommend.
