1176148 So many different mysteries from those I read. I'll have to check them out... I've avoided Emma Donoghue as well, don't know why. Coincidently I just read a snippet about The Paris Express, on our CBC website.

1176148 Mid-July Reading Update
8 books completed so far, although all but one are less then 250 pages. Roughly 1500 pages

Books completed
1. All's Faire in Middle School by Victoria Jamieson This is the 3rd graphic I've read by Jamieson. It follows home schooled Impy who is now heading off the Middle School and the trials and tribulations, as well as her life with her parents working at a Renaissance faire. 4.0 stars
2. The Religious Body by Catherine Aird Book 1 in the Inspector Sloane mystery series sent in a fictional county in England. A nun is found dead at the bottom of the stairs in a convent and Inspector Sloane investigates. Loved it. 4.5 stars
3. Lessons from Cats for Surviving Fascism by Stewart Reynolds Short and sweet from Canadian political commentator Brittlestar. Humorous but still makes its point 3.5 stars 'Be a cat'
4. Domain by James Herbert 3rd and final book in the Rats trilogy. Grim, dark and violent 3.0 stars
5. Paper Girls, Volume 1 by Brian K. Vaughan from the creator of Saga, an excellent 1st volume. Graphic follows 4 teenage paper girls who realize that everyone in their town has disappeared. 4.0 stars
6. A Year of Last Things: Poems by Michael Ondaatje Beautifully written, some struck home 3.0 stars
7. Miami Blues by Charles Willeford The 1st Hoke Moseley mystery set in... yup, you guessed it, Miami. I loved it. I'm glad I have more on my book shelf 4.5 stars
8. Abandon Galaxy! by Bart Somers the 2nd and last space adventure featuring Commander Craig. Hokey and over the top.. 2.0 stars

I've too many on the go, 11 to be exact, so I'll just highlight the newest
1. Empire by Clifford D. Simak I will crack it open tonight. (Sci Fi) I've enjoyed other books by Simak
2. Suffer the Little Children by Donna Leon Commissario Brunetti #16. It's grabbed me right from the get go.
3. Sleeping Planet by William R. Burkett Jr. A new Sci Fi author for me. I'm enjoying this so far
4. The Enemy by Charlie Higson I've been looking forward to checking this out. So far it's dark, dystopic and adults are zombies?
5. Imago by Octavia E. Butler The final book in the Exogenesis trilogy

1. The Testaments by Margaret Atwood for my finish a series challenge
2. The Big Payoff by Janice Law (Anna Peters #1)

1176148 Making steady progress. I've added some series, finished the Commander Craig series (2 books) by Bart Somers. I've been shutting down some series, either completely or partially but I think I need to update my list somewhat... Oh well, I'll get around to that portion.. LOL

Phryne is always fun. You should check out Greenwood's Corinna Chapman series. I've read the 1st and it was excellent.
