Have no idea how I missed your challenge. Love ..."All new series to me. Can't wait!

I miss The Golem and the Jinni. Hope you enjoy it. I am not sure about book 2, but we shall see."I'm loving it so far Alondra but book 2 gets so much negativity on GR I'll probably have to think about that one a while.

Still reading
The Golem and the Jinni and listening to
Gideon the Ninth. One book so quiet and lovely the other so dark and goth.

Nothing better than a good book on a rainy day. Sounds lovely.

I'm loving it so far and atmospheric is the perfect word.

Congrats on finishing the first book Bill. Hope you enjoy the next one just as much.

Thanks Ioana! Those presidents do generate big books. I'm listening to audio books whenever possible.

Better late than never! =) This was a December buddy read and since this book ..."Glad you liked the Wanderers. I enjoyed it a lot, although I felt the ending got a little messy. I enjoyed the cult and the rockstar. Those portions of the book were especially vivid for me somehow. I would compare it to The Stand too and I love that stuff.
I was also intimidated by
Their Eyes Were Watching God and ended up being really glad that I read it. A memorable book.

Thanks Alissa!! I think it's going to be fun.

And I felt the same about All the Ugly and Wonderful Things. I just personally couldn't rate it higher than a 2 even though I felt it was well written. ..."No way Alissa! I just want to form a protest. Can you have a sit in on Goodreads to protest obscenely early list makers? How about a boycott? Sign a petition?

So you pose the question how do you keep up with all the series that you read. My method is very simple, although it will not please perfectionists because there isn't always completion involved. I read a series for as long as I am interested and can keep up with what I have read and not read. When I reach a point where I cannot remember which books I have read or worse yet begin a book and realize I have already read it. At that point I know I'm done with the series. I may go back sometimes and read another book but I don't feel obligated. With this method you may not actually finish every book in the series but you don't have to have complicated spreadsheets. If you can't remember you are done. This actually happened to me with the
The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency series. I so loved those books but at some point I couldn't remember which book I was on and actually read half of a book before I realized I had read it before. At that point I knew I was done. I may read another one sometime but I decided not to stress about it. I like the series but I was clearly over it.

I've read two books by Michael Lewis and liked them both, so I do hope them ..."2024 LIST?!?!?!?!?!? Have mercy Lea!
Lea wrote: "Wow, you started out the year strong. Sometimes I like to begin the year with the tomes, and take my time reading them throughout the entire year. Like A Suitable Boy. I really want to read it, but..."It definitely is taking some time but slow and steady wins the race. I think it is just too soon after plodding through
Cloud Cuckoo Land. Also my actual reading time seems so fragmented I'm having a hard time working my way through weighty tomes. I end up with a lot of audiobooks. That's OK I guess. I enjoy audiobooks too.

#2
Mad Honey A mother struggles against public opinion and her own past in an attempt to save her son. There were a lot of really great twists in this one and, as ever,
Jodi Picoult deals expertly with some controversial issues. The bee trivia was also a great addition. I just really enjoyed this one. I'm thinking maybe I need to look for more by Picoult. 4 stars. Audiobook. Contemporary Fiction.
#3
The Serpent in Heaven A new one in the Gunnie Rose series by
Charlaine Harris. This book was all from the perspective of Rose's sister. While it was entertaining, I didn't enjoy this POV as much as Rose's. 3 stars. Audiobook. Fantasy/Alternative History.

Lights Out in Lincolnwood It's January so I have to read at least one apocalypse novel. A modern family struggles to understand what has happened when an apparent apocalyptic event puts an end to their comfortable suburban life. I alternated between thinking that this was really funny or really sad. I think that was what the author intended. I debated about the star rating for this one. It wasn't the most moving or the most significant apocalyptic novel that I have read. It didn't even have a ton of great action. Most of the main characters were basically inept and clueless. It was, however, enjoyable, often funny and definitely sharp commentary on our modern plugged in lives. Soooo... 4 why is my phone not working apocalyptic stars. Audiobook. Contemporary Fiction/Apocalypse Novel.

Currently Reading
A Suitable Boy ebook. Only a few pages a day but I'm determined to finish it.
The Golem and the Jinni Paperback. I want to have enough reading time to get lost in this one.
The Liar's Dictionary Audiobook. Not sure what to make of this one yet.

Kicking off the motley challenge with:
16. A book that starts with “H”. His Very Best: Jimmy Carter, a Life
21. A book that is co-authored. Mad Honey

Good luck, I loved that book!"I think you might be the reason that book made the list Ioana.

I ha..."I actually have only read a couple of her books and I can see that you might get tired of them after reading a bunch of them. I do think she handles controversial topics and social issues really well. I think the more we read about things that make us uncomfortable the more empathy we are able to have for others and the better we are able to deal with our own feelings about a topic. She is a writer that helps readers do that.

I just started
The Golem and the Jinni. The first one of the year from this list.
