Thanks Jackie!
1176148 The Kate Burkholder series is a fun one. I can't offer any advice on reducing your TBR. I've resigned myself to an infinite TBR. I just want to keep reading until the lights go out.

1176148 No worries Alondra. When those tomatoes come in you can sit down to lunch with one of those big books and a juicy tomato sandwich. Perfect!

LOL No worries. Obviously I haven't been inspired to check it out either. The first one was just such a mess.

Actually I read The White Lady earlier this year and absolutely loved it. It was the first Jacquline Winspear that I have read and I decided I needed to check out the Maisie Dobbs series. I'm hoping I will become as big a fan as your dad.
1176148 Starting Dogs of War. Way to go Joe!
1176148 Checking another off the list. The Hidden One (Kate Burkholder, #14) by Linda Castillo The Hidden One

Formerly Amish Police Chief Kate Burkholder takes on a cold case to prove the innocence of a childhood friend. That this friend is also Kate's lost first love raises the stakes. Before she is finished not only is the friend exonerated but Kate has uncovered an old evil hiding amidst the Amish community.

I don't know why I like this series so much but I do. No matter how unlikely the plot, I always enjoy Chief Burkholder and her cast of characters and the setting in Amish country. This was actually one of the few books in the series where the murder did not happen in Painters Mill. It seems that Chief Burkholder's tough on crime initiative must finally be working. What a relief!

That's what I kept thinking the entire time. It's been so long since I saw the movie, I could never decide if it was the same story or not. If it wasn't it was very similar.

Glad I'm not the only one who wasn't sure what they had read at the end of that book. I thought about it a lot but decided I didn't really want to read book 2. So I got off the merry-go-round. You guys can let me know if it would be worth checking it out.
1176148 Time and Again Time and Again by Jack Finney Last on the list, first complete!

This has become a time travel classic. The main character is chosen to participate in a time travel experiment and travels back to New York City just before the turn of the century, finding intrigue and romance. Also finding that time travel is complicated. Not changing the future becomes one of his biggest challenges.

Time travel is always a winner for me so I enjoyed this tale but not as much as I thought I would. I did not feel as connected to the characters as I would have liked. I did enjoy the time travel and that the story didn't stress over the mechanics of it. Dress and live like the past indulge in a little hypnosis and meditation and shazam there you are in the past. Want to go back to the future just go back. Easy-peasy. This is the first book in the series. I will probably pick up the next one eventually. I didn't feel much for the characters but I would like to see how the main character works his way out of the conundrum he created.

3 Livin' in the past stars.

Yes! I need your "assistance" so much. I'm not at all addicted to reading. Not me. unn-uh.

Even when you give a less than stellar review, you tweak my interest in another nonfiction. You are my best nonfiction resource. If Ioana liked it I better try to get it on the hold list.

I have enjoyed everything that I have read of his. Caution though when I said gritty above I meant it. There is a lot of violence.

1176148 Catching up!

#70 Only a Monster (Monsters, #1) by Vanessa Len Only a Monster This book had the potential to be just another YA Love-triangle Fantasy tale but I'm pleased to report that when the time travel kicked in it became much more interesting. Interesting enough that I will probably pick up the sequel. 3 stars. Audiobook. YA Fantasy-Time Travel.

#71 The Stationery Shop by Marjan Kamali The Stationery Shop A bittersweet tale of lost love and romance amid revolution. 4 stars. Audiobook. Historical Fiction/Romance.

#72 Someone Like You (Wild Widows #1) by Marie Force Someone Like You For RL book club. I am sad to report that this was as close to not reading a book as you can come. It was just a lot of nothing; the characters were all nice, the story was bland and uneventful, everything turned out fine. There were lots and lots of nice words strung together. 2 stars. ebook. Romance.

#73 All the Sinners Bleed by S.A. Cosby All the Sinners Bleed This book had too much action and grit to be nothing. S.A. Cosby's tale of the first black sheriff of a small southern town does not disappoint. I'm such a fan of this author! 4 stars. Audiobook. Thriller.

#74 The Light Pirate by Lily Brooks-Dalton The Light Pirate A young girl adapts to the new world left after climate change and the slow dissolution of civilization. Hope amid the ruins was the theme here. 3 stars. Audiobook. Apocalypse Lit-CliFi
