1176148 At some point in November I will start trying to make progress in my rather large pile of Christmas books. I just can't start them before Halloween. Most are chick lit so by the time I get to the end of December I am so ready for a change of pace.

My 12+4 challenges probably aren't going to be completed. I've read 10 in 1, 9 in the other. Fairly good progress but with my Christmas book plan, I don't think I'll be completing either. We'll see what happens. For 2025 I think I will just stick to 1 challenge again. Whilst I want to read all the books, I've been distracted by new discoveries or new releases. There are just so many books vying for my attention!

1176148 9th book finished - The Book of Fire
4 stars from me.

In my opinion this author's best book was The Beekeeper of Aleppo. I've read Songbirds and now this one and they don't quite live up to The Beekeeper. Having said that, once I got into this book, I did become invested in it. For me, it was a bit of a slow start and it took me a while to get into it. But definitely worth a read. It really shows the horrors and impact of wildfires which we hear about in so many countries these days.

I've only read the first in that series. How did you like it?"

I enjoyed the trilogy - I'd definitely recommend reading the next 2 books
1176148 8th book finished - Daisy Jones & The Six.
I wasn't sure if I would like the style - the interview with all the different characters. But it worked well and I enjoyed it much more than I'd expected. Managed to get through it in just 2 days.
1176148 Half way through now!

1176148 I read Spare when it came out last year. I had always liked Harry, but I don't agree with a lot that has gone on recently. I think a lot of the family issues should have been dealt with privately. They go on a lot about privacy, but then do these documentaries, interviews etc... Harry has obviously struggled with his mental health, particularly with losing his mum so tragically. Do I believe everything in his book... no. There have been wrongs on both his part, and on the part of the other Royals. It's a shame he & Meghan quit as working royals because I think they could have had a positive impact.
