Hestia felt stupid, considering how flashy of a mask she was wearing, it had a large hat type thing, made to look like a pirate hat, although it still covered her eyes, which she considered enough to get away with murder while still being recognizable to those who had heard the tales of her. She managed to sneak a few knives in with her, although she knew she only need to have one, even if she wanted to keep it clean she could just lick the blood off. She’d straighten her suit, which she picked out, even though Bedelia gave her a really pretty dress, she preferred suits much more than dresses.
Upon Bedelia mentioning her plan she’d respond, “I won’t be killing anybody of importance and if you really want it I’m fine not murdering anybody.” She would be disappointed if Bedelia said she didn’t want to murder anybody, although she’d be okay with it, considering Bedelia never got to have anything like this as a child. She felt slightly nostalgic for a place like this, it reminded her of her old high school, she attended a school dance that was masquerade-themed once and she had to do extra jobs, without her parents knowing, to get her dress, but it was quickly ruined by her being careless, as well as getting slightly drunk.
“Actually, have fun, you deserve it,” she’d pause, “I promise I won’t kill anybody.” She was slightly disappointed to not kill, although she knew it was for Bedelia since it’d be to make up for Bedelia’s awful childhood. “You can have my knives if you don’t trust me,” She usually felt the need to prove herself when she made promises, which often led to her doing things that would show she isn’t doing that.
Pandora wasn’t shocked by Annie running off, although she’d likely need to find her soon. First, she’ll get a drink, just to cool off from the anxiety of waiting in a line then she’ll find Annie. She promised the servants on her way out that she wouldn’t drink too much, to avoid losing Annie in the crowd of people. When she eventually found the drink station she’d pour herself a large serving of something, she wasn’t really sure what it was but it smelled alcoholic, so it was good enough. Her mask, which was a slight gradient between yellow and orange, was slightly falling, so she adjusted it. She always liked masquerade balls, but she didn’t understand the point of the masks, they barely hid anything, you could still tell who people were. She’d mess with her dress, which was a knee-length lavender dress which she’d worn to multiple other balls, but she wanted to get food first, so it could wait.
“Oh, hey Annie, there you are,” She’d reach around, trying to grab beignets and a piece of garlic bread. “Don’t run off without telling me where you’re going next time. Okay?” She didn’t want to lose Annie because the sheer amount of people here would make it almost impossible to find a child. “Also, you should really try these beignets, they’re super good,” She’d say while offering one to Annie, with a slight smile. She’d sip on her drink, which was much less bitter than she had thought it’d be, it actually had a slight sweet aftertaste, but that could just be the beignets. Pandora looked around at the pastries, trying one she had never had before.
