Have you ever read any of the books on our reading list before? What did you think about the book(s) you read?

For our first discussion, we've decided to tackle the difficult subject of censorship in Canada. Each year people want to ban books for a host of reasons. Sometimes they feel the book is immoral, offensive, age inappropriate, or too stupid to read. As a public library, we believe that all people should have access to the information and resources they need. We provide access to those resources without judgement or bias. Sometimes that leads to debate or controversy over library materials. This brings us to our first discussion: Literary Censorship in Canada.

All of the books on our book discussion list have been challenged at one point or another. Some have been outright banned. Feel free to read as few or as many books as you like. Or suggest another banned book you would like to discuss. We would love to hear your thoughts about this issue.
