1166052 Played MS Flight Simulator last night for a good couple of hours on my Series X. Very impressive looking graphically. And flying a Cessna pretty straighforward - I did the tutorial for the Cessna and in all honesty I could have flown it without the tutorial. I flew over New York, and then over the my current home town and my house where I live now. And took off at a small airport in manchester, flew over my childhood house and then landed unannounced (I didn't even crash) at Manchester Airport - felt very wierd. It was good fun but I can't honestly see me playing this much as sims are not for me. I might play it again - see if I can at least upgrade to a faster plane that goes a further distance. I like the idea of flying across the atlantic or something like that in a jet. And flying around some of the world's wonders (grand canyon etc).
1166052 I’m hoping they do a slim because the PS5 looks massive. I’d have to put it behind my TV I think to accommodate it. I’ve no plans to get it anyway until there are at least 4-5 games on it I want to play. Everything so far is not my bag. I think there is only God of War Ragnarok at the moment. Of course I’m sure there will be more in time - Uncharted, TLOU, and others. Killzone and Resistance would be great too lol - I joke, I know these probably won’t happen.
1166052 Morning all. Struggling to find my next game. I thought it was the The Ascent which is out this week but after reading/watching previews I'm not so sure now - I might give it a go and I see how I get on. Over the weekend though I played quite a bit of Master Chief Collection multiplayer and Forza 7 career mode. MCC is really good - having all the maps available across all Halos really does mix it going from old school (really very dated but enjoyable multiplayer) to some really graphically impressive remastered maps. Still, my skills go between adequate to get my backside handed to me. Really enjoyed Forza 7 too and only two more championships to go to complete the season.

1166052 Looks pretty good to me and is completely open hardware. You can even put windows on it - in fact, any OS you want. Reason that appeals - strangely - as it might be possible to have a proper Games Pass handheld. I'll wait to see if this is a possibility. I have zero games on Steam but an Xbox handheld might appeal.
1166052 Morning all. Finally completed Doom Eternal. It is a cracking game. It's more of the same really except for the introduction of a lot more platforming and later in the game they really ramp up the difficulty. Amazing graphically with the next gen patch. There are more enemy types too some of which I find really annoying - the shielded guy with the attack wolves/dogs particulary (really struggled to kill him) and the mobile totem demon which when he was first introduced into the game late on basically took most of my spare lives as I didn't know what to kill to stop the relentless onslaught. Still a cracking game. 8.5/10 on the R-score-o-meter. However, if the trend is to continue to make the game even more and more frenetic from what was an already bat-shit-crazy starting point I may bow out of the next one. Gets to the point where it feels more like stress than fun.

Next is probably a try of The Ascent. Comes out end of next week I think. A 3D isometric game that graphically looks amazing - similar to Dead Nation and Alienation which I both enjoyed.

1166052 I know we're mostly home console gamers on here but anyone interested in the new Steam Deck?

Nintendo Switch like but for PC games. I like the look of it but don't have the need for one - I only play games on the TV screen.
1166052 Morning all. Another two levels of Doom Eternal done. Found four more 1 Up's and spent them in no time lol. This game has really ramped up in difficulty. I abolsolutely hate those totem demons (or whatever they are called) - it's like buffed demons constantly respawn and in your face until that totem demon (once you actually find him) is dead. And some really tricky platforming too. Which I kinda like as it really does make use of the environment in some spectacular ways jumping massive distances. Just got to a mini-boss fight where I have to kill some guardian that flies about the place trying to stop me transporting somewhere. Thought I'd switch it off then. Only one mini-boss fight and one level to go. This game is brutal.

1166052 He could have subbed Rashford, Foden/Sancho for Saka (yea sub for sub) and either Kane/Sterling. Up front it just looked very leggy and ineffectual. Anyway it's history now and I think they did a great job - best performance of an England team (players and coaches) in my memory.
1166052 So I've pressed on with Doom Eternal. Got to something like the 8th mission and the difficulty has ramped up. Before the mission I had 14 spare lives (1 Ups) and at the end I'd spent them all. And now I'm at the point of no return with no spare lives. Just wondering if I'll make it through to the end now considering how difficult this game has got now. For the first 7 missions it was fine and then boom - gave me a good kicking.

1166052 My only gripe with how England approached the final was after they conceded the goal. I can understand Gareth wanted to manage the game 1-0 up but ultimately once Italy scored he should have been more positive with the subs and attacking play to try to win the game. Bringing on two-subs 1 minute before a shootout, regardless of whether they practiced it, is a lot to expect for players to come on in that pressure cooker moment and with their first (or near first) touch of the ball to convert a pen. IMO he should have brought them on at the start of extra time and try to win the game with attacking football, and if it went to pens they would have had 30 mins to get used to the pressure cooker atmosphere. Saying that Gareth to that point did get most things right.

1166052 And the awful tackle on Grealish. That was defo a sending off offence.

1166052 Well. Absolutely gutting to go out on penalties. Italy were the better team overall in the game (and probably the entire competition) but for the sake of winning a penality shoot out - we missed out again. Heroic performance!

1166052 Yea agree with that. We definitely deserved to win over Denmark over the entire game.

1166052 I hope the lucky way we won the semi yesterday was an omen for the final. I thought we were the better team last night over the whole 120 minutes but Denmark for a good 45-50 minutes of the 90 mins were the better team. Italy though for me are so far the best team in the tournament and from my experience in these big competions the best team usually does win. I hope not though. They're gonna be very tough to beat but it can be done.

I guess QB was conceived before Xbox one was launched when it was going to be more a TV box than a games console. I’d replay QB - as I generally love Remedy games - but without meaning to spoil it there is one section of the game I absolutely can’t stand. Completely puts me off replaying it. Otherwise it’s a solid 8/10 game for me, ignoring the TV series.

Are you watching the TV series too ?

I liked QB but I think if I played it again I'd bypass the live action stuff. Well worth watching it the first time around - but a strange concept.

I kinda quite like the platforming as it’s a bit of a rest from the relentlessness of the combat - which I love - but nice to mix it up. Although the platforming can be a little tricky at times.
1166052 Hi all. On holiday (just at home taking a break) this week but have started, well a good 4 missions into Doom Eternal. With the next gen patch. Decided on the 4K 60fps option. The ray tracing I can’t notice lol so thought I’d stick with the higher resolution. Anyway it’s a superb game. The graphics are amazing. Fast and furious combat and great level design. Lots of exploration and accessing secret areas. And it’s got some pretty decent platforming. Probably one of the best graphical games I’ve seen.

Yes I think I was 2 trophies away from getting the plat on Primal but I worked out I'd have to grind for another 10-15 hours so then I decided perhaps I won't bother. I got my enjoyment out of it.

1166052 I look forward to anything Denis Villeneuve does - and with Dune being one of those atmospheric sci-fi stories it's ideal for him. I loved Arrival and Bladerunner 2049. So probably my most anticipated movie too.

Sicario was good too.
