Why shouldn’t you hire short people as chefs? Because the steaks are too high.Seriously, though, you’ve got to hand it to short people… Well they can’t reach for themselves, can they?
These are the jokes, folks!I was walking down the street yesterday when I saw someone pickpocket a dwarf. I don’t know how anyone could stoop so low.
Jane wrote: "Could be worse. You could be from the Deep South of the UK, where arguments are settled with cider drinking contests and anybody born more than two miles from your house is a foreigner"Better to settle with cider than shootouts, surely.
His wife's graveside service was just barely finished, when there was a massive clap of thunder, followed by a tremendous bolt of lightning, accompanied by even more thunder rumbling in the distance. The little, old man looked at the pastor and calmly said, "Well, she’s there."
I remember watching the Ray Charles biopic ("Ray") several years ago. That accent touched a spring in me and for about three days my father's inflexions and vowels kept coming out of my mouth. My students all thought I had the flu! When I get exhausted, according to DH I get more and more Southern. He accuses me of saying once, about a phone call that came while I was out, "Wey-all, did ya ax him whut he won-nid?"
Didn't chew much as a kid, hate it now. Wouldn't even consider it. For some reason the mere idea of chewing gum grosses me out.
Yup! And if he rolls over the person they basically suffocate. Horrid image burned into my brain at a very tender age. Looked like they were smothered in bubblegum.
Once in awhile I sell myself out like that. My dad was born in 1920 in Arkansas and he never got over it.

Don't know if you remember the old "The Prisoner" TV series. I remember when it came out in the US and I thought "I don't get this because I'm a kid." Ten years or so ago they showed it on the BBC and I tried to watch it again. Still didn't really grokk. You don't have to be high to watch "The Prisoner", but I bet it really, really helps!
I'm tellin' ya, it was Rover!"I am not a number! I am a free man!"
BTW Groovy, I need to message you some more re: Vashti but I woke up at 2 AM today and it's now 9 PM. I'm off to bed before I'm less coherent than I am now.
Nine more stitches. If you sew up a small tear (or a dropped or torn stitch in knitting) the tear won't get bigger. If you don't, it will probably catch on something and get worse.People don't mend anymore, they throw away and buy new. Those who can.
I actually turned the collar on a couple of work shirts for a friend's husband. They were worn through on the fold on the top side, and he really loved those shirts. I offered to try, and managed. They were amazed.
Me too! I was surprised to discover Spanish has the same noise: Ñam-ñam, meant to be onomatopoeia for eating.
