114553 Not at all Groovy. You know what serendipity means, but "eisteddfod" is the annual Welsh music and culture bash. Choir singing, harp playing, druids (or at least people dressed as druids) marching around doing their thing. And, I'm sure, mead drinking somewhere in there! ;)

It is indeed a lovely word. And I just realised I can go on Youtube and find Welsh men's choirs! Delderfield said God Is an Englishman, but those with any Welsh blood know He is Welsh. That's why the angels sing like that--they learned it from the miners!

114553 Duh! LOL

I also bet the man who came up with it wouldn't say boo to a goose.

114553 Seen on a tube of toothpaste: "Professionally designed to reverse years of yellowing."
Yeah, because other brands of toothpaste are designed by amateurs....

114553 Backwards meaning, from the end to the beginning? I suppose they mean she starts as the princess (the bride) and her marriage ends in her being "in her place"--the kitchen.

someone has issues.

114553 Not in public, anyway, MrB. She just wants to iron out the problems.

114553 Hey, Groovy....do older women still call people by going, "Yoo hoo"? They did when I was a kid, but...that's a long time ago.

114553 "You're trying too hard." Usually said by people who aren't trying at all.

114553 Better to dye in the dining room than in the washing machine!

114553 "Thanx" is a word that makes me grind my teeth. Bad enough in a text message--horrible when written in a normal sentence.

114553 At last I have learned how to make good tempura! Apparently it's all about the contrast in temperatures. Use icy-cold water (sparkling water is best) and mix with the flour to make a thin batter, the consistency of light cream. You can even chill your flour if you remember in time.

Fry the battered food in very hot oil. Drain on a rack above paper towels so that it's not in contact with the oil at all. Otherwise it will lose its crispiness in a heartbeat.

114553 Did I mention "did ought"? Once in awhile my Southern father's idiom comes out of my mouth...yesterday I said to DH, "You know, I did ought to clean out the fridge, but it's too hot today!" If my students hear me mangle the language like that I'll be in trouble. At least I didn't say "I might could", though.
