Hello and welcome aboard Jason, yash, and Eugene!

Just a 3D wolf bookmark I got at Barnes and nobles. I also have used bookmarks From indie authors but stopped using them when I thought I had lost one. Don't want to lose future collectible!
I also was using a Bisky letter and stopped for the same reason. ;)

I don't think you are allowed to write about someone without their explicit permission. That is why we all have disclaimers in our books stating that any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, or actual events is purely coincidental.

Hovercraft?

lol You are certainly not the only one. I read it so many times I stopped counting. And I'd be willing to read it as many more times if it could help me find hiccups. :P

I think you should read what you like. If you force yourself to read things you don't like, you just won't read. And not reading certainly won't help if you have a problem with your writing.
Force yourself to read things you don't like? Nah, life is too short for that.

I have to admit that beta readers are courageous angels. Unless you know what you're going to get into, it's hard to volunteer. I completely understand Bisky. Sometimes you may get something you absolutely can't do and not all authors are good with feedback that are not glorious reviews. So the suggestion I have for all authors is to respect beta readers. Respect and value their opinions. You asked for it after all.
I want to add that for those who say, "Oh but they get a free book in exchange. It's a win-win situation!"
WRONG! There are plenty of free books on sites like Amazon and the likes. Books that are finished and polished. (or at least should be) So beta readers actually do us a favor and not the other way around. Always remember that. If you're not going to, forget using them. :/ (This was not meant for the OP, but for all authors using or intending on using betas.)

Funny thing is that I noticed I write best in the morning, yet my hubby and I go to bed so late at night, I don't feel like getting up in the morning so It's a constant struggle. Most of the time the bed wins and the writing has to adapt to whatever time it is.

This group here offers some
https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/... but you have to check because some ask for money. I think they have special threads though.

What limits me? My vocabulary. I am from a French family, so English is only my second language. I conquered it by writing in the pov of an alien from outerspace. Still...people didn't always get that he didn't master the language perfectly so I ended up having an editor searching for every preposition he used wrongly. Some say it removed the authenticity from the book. That these 'mistakes' made it sound real while others are relieved that it is 'fixed'. Can't please everyone.

A nice goal to add for everyone: DO NOT FEEL OUT OF YOUR LEAGUE ANYMORE!!! hehehe

I am in the same bag as you are C. I am self-taught and not even born from an English speaking family. I republished my first book many times for the same reasons. My betas didn't want me to change a thing. THey said it fit the protagonist, but still, I found a woman who does edits (she was doing friends before she offered to do mine) and now I am finally satisfied with the result. She only charges 100$ per book so while I'm not the wealthiest, I can afford her and well, I am not saying she doesn't miss anything at all, but she does catch a whole lot of stuff.
So yeah, I too feel out of my league most of the time, but I am proud of what I have written and published and most of all, I know I get better with each new one. In the end, isn't it what counts?

Why do you say that?"I second that. I saw your post, Gavin, and you fit right in with the rest. Why did you delete it?

My current goal is to publish twice this year.
One book is currently in my editor's hands with only one more pass to go. So unless something goes totally wrong, this goal should be fulfilled.
I have written twelve chapters for another book. I'd love to finish and publish it too, but maybe that is asking for too much. I'll just have to wait and see.
Don't forget to share yours, Bisky!

Ah but Paul, not being able to write doesn't mean we don't like to write. Other things aside from work can get in the way. For Bisky and for me, it was health. When you don't feel good or when your health is on your mind, writing is difficult. :/

I had Fate and Destiny edited...after I re-edited myself a few times lol... But not touching it anymore because i'd risk destroying the editor's work. Still it's all it takes not to go back in there. This new incoming one has been edited and re-edited until I couldn't see how to improve it before it went to the editor. I promised myself I wouldn't make the same mistake yet again...

I do. Makes it hard not to go back and edit the old already published. I think I show more emotion now than I did in my previous work. I guess breaks are always good, even if the reasons are not always a good thing. :(

Welcome aboard, Gavin. :)

It's tough going back. That's for sure. For me it was not to push myself more than I could. I ended up writing about a hundred to two hundred words every other day, but at least I was writing. (And most of the time I liked what I wrote and kept it, so there's that.)
