110440 Very very beautiful!!! A history read...backwards! I may re-read it, since I liked it so much, now more than 10 years ago
110440 Finished, and liked it quite.
It took all Evertt courage to try and re-write this over-famous story, and do it from a black point of view. But, in my opinion, he did a very good job.
Particularly interesting I've found - as said before - the "love" of James for books and literature. Historically it was the very ability od reading and writing that helped slaves to acquire awareness (and in the end actual wapons) to free themselves. As religion.
What do you all think? Have someone elese read it?

I love this idea of a "cultured" slave - not so absurd, even id those were usually the socalled "house slaves" (one for all Frederick Douglass) - lover of books...
