"I dunno, it was a cool book," he looked down and rubbed the back of his neck, his confident facade momentarily broken. "I'm sorry if I'm botherin' ya. You can go back to whatever you were doin'. I'll..." He trailed off, searching for something, anything to say.
/Now would be a good time to disappear but... that would be rude and then he wouldn't want to talk to me later.../
He plastered a bright smile onto his face. "Seriously, you don't have to stay outta pity or anythin' like that."

Nicholas nodded but still looked embarrassed. "Hey, have you ever read The Lightning Thief?" he asked suddenly.

"A chicken? That's so cute. My family had chickens, but I never named any of 'em. I did like to play with 'em when I was younger though, and my friend Roger used to love makin' stuff for 'em." Nicholas laughed at the memory. "Why one time we were real little, maybe six or seven, an' he found a buncha wood planks in my mom's tool shed. So he gets it into his head that we can make a hut for the chicklets, 'cause they'd been gettin' rained on you see," as he spoke he gestured wildly with his hands and stumbled over his words, but he was beaming. Then it dawned on him. "I wasn't talkin' too much, was I? My dad always said I talked too much."

"Who's Bear?" he asked, sitting up a bit.

"The void." He reappeared his fingers and looked at Sasha. "So, what sorta things do ya like to do?"

Nicholas smirked. "I can do this," he said, flourishing his hand and making his fingers disappear. "Not as potent as gravity, but still pretty sweet, right?"

"So," Nicholas began, leaning back against the wall and fiddling with his charm bracelet. "What can you do?"

"Nice to meet ya, Sasha. I'mma be honest, that name is
federal."
{{am i using nicholas as an excuse to look up nineties slang?
absolutely of course not!}}

Nicholas grinned. "Yeah. I'm Nicholas, by the way, What's your name?"

{{big sad energy}}

Nicholas quirked an eyebrow but didn't comment on it. "Jus' 'cause ya do it, doesn't mean it's good for ya," he pointed out.
{{sorry i took so long to respond!}}

Carson kicked their feet in the air and watched the leaves fall from the trees. A bird nearby fell out of a tree with a loud squawk and Carson figured that Daegon was even more upset than they were.

{{i'm loving this whole dynamic so much this little gang of terrible people is fun}}
Carson winced at the display of powers, but otherwise gave no outward indicators of their disgust.

Carson grits their teeth and averts their eyes. They twist the ratty black and green friendship bracelet around their wrist. It quite clashed with their outfit, but they never took it off. They probably couldn't if they tried, with the way it was tied. The rat, startled by the noise, scrambled away. Carson sighed quietly.

"Excellent," Carson hummed.

{{slightly russian

Nicholas grinned and shifted on the bottom bunk. "Careful. All the blood's gonna rush to your head."

Carson nodded. "Good. So we'll proceed with the plan?"
A rat skittered nearby and Carson smiled slightly, watching it nose its way under a pile of dead leaves.

"Eh, mostly." Nicholas joked, pushing his frizzy red hair our of his eyes to look at Sasha. "Why?"
