100482 In joining this review group you are agreeing to review any book assigned to you within a two month time period. If you do not agree, please do not sign up below.

This is the Young Adult review group, which will include all types of novels classified as young adult. As with other review groups, you will be expected to read and give an honest review of the books assigned to you.

Participants are expected to post reviews to Goodreads. If the review is positive (three stars or higher), the review should be posted to Amazon as well, if the book is available there. This makes having accounts with both Goodreads and Amazon.com a requirement.

If a reviewer and the author agree that the review should not be posted to Goodreads due to quality issues, the reviewer is relieved of the requirement of posting the review. If this occurs in the first round, the second reviewer is relieved of the requirement to read and review the book. This is entirely at the discretion of the reviewer and is not intended in any way to manipulate the rating of any book.

Contact the authors you are scheduled to review to arrange to receive a review copy of their work.

Please post to this topic, both when you receive review copies and when you post the reviews.

If you are going to be late with your review, either post to this topic as soon as possible or message the author and the moderator.

If your book has not been reviewed by the deadline for either round, contact the review group moderator. This is necessary to make certain that the review process is fair for everyone.

The author should submit one book in the series. Other arrangements can be made by agreement between the author and the reviewers.

We are in sign-up now. As soon as we have six books, the review cycle will begin allowing a couple of days for authors and reviewers to make arrangements. We have four books already. If you submit a book, we will need only one more to move on to the review cycle.

100482 I received a message today From Stuart Taylor indicating that he is at least delayed in completing his commitment to this group and might have to drop out due to personal issues. We should know more early next week. If he has to drop out, we will work out some arrangement to see that everyone gets reviewed.

That is up to you. The moderators discussed this and felt that reviewers should be given this option. No one is suggesting that reviews be inflated. Reviews should be honest. If you feel that you should post a negative review, you should do so. Withholding a negative review is an option not a requirement.

Bonnie:

It can be either 1 or 2. If a reviewer feels that the work is not good enough for a decent review (3 or higher), the reviewer should give as much feedback as possible privately to the author but is not required to post a negative review. I encourage reviewers to try to finish reading the work just so that the reviewer can give the author as complete feedback as possible. The whole point of peer review is to provide exposure for Indy works that merit it and to help fellow authors improve their art. Honesty is critical to accomplishing this, but it does not have to be public.

The reviewer and the author should come to an agreement to not post the review.

100482 S. wrote: "Just wondering where and when we post our reviews :-)"

Reviews should be posted on the Goodreads and Amazon pages for the work being reviewed. Then the reviewer should post to this topic that the review has been completed. This should include a link to the Goodreads page for their review.
