[close] The Århus Feminist Reading Group was founded in May 2017. During this time, the group has met to discuss articles, books, poems and short stories, building new connections between people and generating discussion and personal reflection with each new meeting. The collective would like to create a space here for more sustained discussion and conversation about the books we read together. A priority of the group is inclusivity and diversity, and so with this in mind, the group is not an academic project and prior knowledge of feminist theory is not required.

[close] This group is focused on the sub-genre of Science Fiction that explores feminist issues such as women's roles in society. Feminist Sci-Fi poses questions about gender roles, sexuality, reproduction, and power structures between men and women. Sci-Fi allows authors the freedom to create utopias illustrating worlds free of sexism, homophobia and prejudice, as well as dystopias where the gender divide is exaggerated in order to open a dialogue regarding the role of social constructs in understanding gender. Emphasis (though not exclusively) on the women authors of science fiction as they are often under-represented in the genre.

[close] Welcome to the Selcouth Society Of The Arts (SSOTA), a club comprised of established, beginner, intermediate, or aspiring: artists, poets, composers, musicians, photographers, writers, actors, and filmmakers. Even if you do not consider yourself any of the following, by reading this, I invite you to join as a fellow reader. We welcome people of all ages and walks of life, and our doors are always open. Here, we celebrate knowledge, good books, and the beauty of life from different perspectives.

[close] The only way to know the future is by being aware of the past, the present, and its trends. Since we know we can't see the future, at least we can guess and narrow down our forecasts - but to do that, we need knowledge. We create this reading group to fill the gap between where we are now and the times to come. We aim to get a broader perspective, a bigger picture, a bird's view. A reading group focused on utopias and dystopias that make us think, books and essays that put us aware of our environment, futuristic innovations, and tales from the past, that teach us how and why the things we have today are like they are, and maybe help us to know how to change them. The group proposes to read around one book or essay (article, interview) per month, ~12 books in total. Books about finance, history, political and philosophical questions. Books about happiness and how to live a better life. Are these the tools to survive in this information society? We think so, if you don't agree, join the reading club and prove us wrong!
