माणूस हा मोठा चमत्कारिक प्राणी आहे. तो भुकेच्यापोटी कोणते पाप करणार नाही ? सगळीच पापे करील, हे खरे आहे. पण समोर सुग्रास अन्न वाढून ठेवलेले असतानासुद्धा एकदा हा माणूस हट्टाला पेटला, की भुकेच्या बजनाखाली सारे शरीर क्षीण होत जात शेवटी मरणही पत्करले जाते, पण अन्नाचा स्वीकार केला जात नाही. मानवी जीवनात मूल्यांच्या निष्ठा प्रकृतीवर मात करण्याइतक्या प्रबल असू शकतात.
