Education

[close] A place to discuss all the unique aspects of Deaf culture as highlighted in the thriller Silent Fear (A novel inspired by true crimes) by Lance & James Morcan. This group can also be an intersection of sorts where Deaf and hearing people can engage and learn from each other.

[close] +Seeking to articulate the storeis we enacted to create our current mess (e.g. global warming, gross inequality, pollution levels making us all sick, etc, etc.) AND seeking better stories that support e.g. an economy designed to meet the needs of all and a democratic deliberative government that would ac tually serve the needs of all.

[close] This space is designed for us, as a cohort, to share and exchange book suggestions that inspire our thinking as educators and graduate students. The idea is simple: any member can recommend a book—whether it’s related to education theory, policy, leadership, pedagogy, or even broader works that help us reflect on learning, equity, and social change. By gathering our recommendations in one place, we create a shared library of ideas that can spark conversations, deepen our perspectives, and support both our academic journey and our professional practice. Everyone is encouraged to contribute titles, short reflections, or even discussion questions to help the group engage meaningfully with each suggestion. Together, we can turn reading into a collaborative experience and continue building a community of thoughtful, curious educators.

[close] Chapters of Change" is a book club for social workers dedicated to exploring literature that inspires empathy, promotes social justice, and enhances our understanding of the diverse communities we serve. We will delve into thought-provoking stories and insightful, evidence-based non-fiction, using each book as a stepping stone to deeper conversations and meaningful action in our field. As a "baby" social worker, my goal is that our discussions are a form of support for each other. I hope they bridge the gap between theory and practice, offering fresh perspectives or continued education on the challenges and opportunities we encounter daily in our work. I believe in the power of shared reading experiences to foster personal growth, strengthen our professional skills, and build a supportive community of like-minded social work individuals! Join me as we turn the pages toward a more informed, compassionate, and equitable world, one chapter at a time. Whether you're looking to expand your knowledge, connect with others in social work, or simply enjoy a good book, "Chapters of Change" offers a space for learning, reflection, and good company!
