About the Group As a state economist, I created this space for those curious about how Monetary and Fiscal Policy actually translate from high-level theory into our daily lives. We move past the dry spreadsheets to explore the narratives that shape our financial reality. What we explore: • The "Money" Side: Central banking, interest rates, and the machinery of modern currency. • The "Markets" Side: Government spending, debt, and how policy creates (or corrects) market volatility. • The Human Side: How these massive economic levers affect regular people, businesses, and our collective future. Who should join? Whether you’re an econ nerd or just someone who wants to understand why the news is talking about "the deficit" again, there’s a seat at the table for you. [close] The Political Economy Society (PES) Maastricht was founded in January 2022 to create a community open to all students to promote the necessary understanding of the complex interactions between economics, politics, and business. We connect students with each other, experts, scholars, and best-in-their-field companies. Every Tuesday from 18.30 to 20.00 we discuss a new topic.
