[close] While postcolonial and critical race studies have shaped and informed college institutions (most recently with the introduction of critical race theory) I alongside contemporary English students of color are only at the beginning stages of radically re-evaluating and decolonizing the literary canon and institutional spaces. Join me as I seek to examine the ways in which contemporary writers of marginalized identities effectively navigate and reclaim spaces dominated by whiteness, extending from the space of literary canon to the space of the classroom and challenge the exclusivity of certain spaces in relation to race. Ultimately, this group exists for anyone interested in the partaking of decolonizing the literary canon!! it's the poc's prerogative (:
