The Earth Book Club is 🌎 🌱A place for inquisitive minds who want to read, expand their knowledge about books that talk about climate change, sustainability, and Earthlings of our planet. 🌱A place for fiction and non-fiction lovers who want to save the planet. 🌱A place for exchanging thoughts, ideas and sparkling conversations about planet Earth. We are very excited to kickstart this journey of reading more environment related books. If you too care for our planet Earth and want to read books about sustainability, climate change, Earth's atmosphere, forests, oceans, wildlife that inhabits Earth, join the club.

Each year, incoming students are presented with an engaging book that will be the focus of a campus-wide discussion. This year's book is Clade by author James Bradley. [close] The term "Climate Fiction" (CF) was first used by Australian novelist James Bradley in 2010 on his online blog Cityoftongues, where he claimed that realistic novels are “hopelessly inadequate” to discuss the implications of climate change, for they would violate the urgency and difficulty of the problem for the sake of coherence. In CF, climate crisis occur in what literary critic Darko Suvin calls novums: fictional worlds validated by cognitive logic. Usually, CF depicts extremely dystopian scenarios characterised by the anthropogenic nature of the environmental threats, which will eventually lead to an apocalyptic scenario. Climate Fiction is at the core of my PhD project at University of Ferrara and I would love to discuss instances of CF with all members of the club.
